I never thought one day I would be doing an ultrasound on a sheep. Mom, I finally have my first ULTRASOUND PICTURE (hope my mom dont think it is my child when she saw the picture😂😂). There were so many volunteers and everyone was so excited for this module, maybe because it involved sheep? bekkk… bekkk… 🐑

There was even a “gay sheep” (he tried to have… relations with another sheep) and a very “homophobic leader” sheep who kept trying to protect the others. It was honestly hilarious. And then there’s “Masnah,” the female sheep, who is now officially Gali’s wife, she’s pregnant (not sure whose child tho 👀).

I really enjoyed myself! Out of nowhere I became the MC for karaoke night and also the tech crew 😭😭 (sorry to those who didn’t get enough time to sing 🥺🙏🏻). Now I know for sure I have zero talent for singing 👁️🤙🏻 We managed to catch veryyyyy extraordinary sunset

Day 7 was all about science and learning as we spent the whole day at the Glami Lemi biotech research center 🔬. Can’t deny—there was plenty of food around too, which made the day even better 😂. The hands-on sessions were definitely the highlight, really nailing the point of making sure we gained practical knowledge instead of just learning from text. The final session with Ms. Pauline was fantastic—her storytelling style just hit the spot and kept us all engaged. Even though the campfire had to be canceled because of the rain, the day still felt like a total bliss. Sometimes it’s the mix of learning and small joys that makes it memorable! 🙌

Today at Glami Lemi was unforgettable. It's not every day you get to learn practical skills like making silage and then apply scientific knowledge to something as cool as a sheep pregnancy ultrasound. A special shout-out to Mazna for letting us learn from her—it was an incredible hands-on experience. The whole environment at the Biotechnology Centre, with its stunning views of the mountains and trees, was so peaceful and inspiring. It was a perfect day of learning and appreciating nature. I really hope there's a chance to return in the future.

The AUN Summer Camp experience in Malaka gave me more than just new knowledge—it gave me perspective. Exploring the city and learning about its history under colonization reminded me how culture and resilience are shaped through struggle. It made me reflect on how important it is to preserve stories of the past so that the next generation can learn and grow from them. At the beach, I joined a volleyball game, and even though it was just for fun, I realized how sports can break barriers and bring people together. That moment taught me that sometimes the simplest activities can create the strongest connections.

Visiting Glami Lemi Biotechnology Lab was another highlight. Even though I was exhausted and almost slept through the ride, the lessons about plant tissue culture and animal studies opened my mind to the link between science and sustainability. When Group 8 won first place, I felt proud not only of the achievement but of the teamwork that brought us there. Looking back, I see that this day taught me balance—between learning and resting, between knowledge and joy, and between individuality and collaboration.

I started the day with a fascinating session all about animal nutrition, focusing on sheep. 🍽️🐑

It was my first time getting to see a pregnant sheep up close, and it was so cool to learn about their care. We even got to witness a live sperm collection and check the quality! 🔬 It was a super unique and eye-opening experience to hold a sheep myself. I just loved it. 🥰

Beyond the farm, we also dived into some new concepts about waste management ♻️, data analysis, and even a new way of thinking about problem-solving. It's amazing how much I'm learning!

And to top off such a busy day, we all got together for a super fun karaoke session! 🎤 It was the perfect way to unwind and celebrate with everyone. Such a happy and memorable day! ✨

Yesterday at Glami Lemi was a wonderful day. In the morning, we got to visit a sheep farm and see firsthand how semen is collected, see the young lambs, learn about food storage, and how a fermented drink that aids the sheep's digestive system is made. In the afternoon, we visited a lab and participated in tasks involving banana plants (making agar, culturing and propagating bananas in agar, potting bananas, and finishing with an online campfire). That was an interesting experienced and truly meaningful visited.🥰🐑🌦

It safe to say today’s activities are by far favourite, excited and fun since I’m really interested in microscience , vet medicine so on. Firstly, I met with ewe” for IVF reproduction and she’s really clever. I learned about the sexual intercourse of animals ( including ultrasound) . After that , I kept on studying about IVF like abnormal and normal eggs or sperm . The demonstrator showed in detail( bet I won’t ever regret that sorta experience again) .That was so fun yet I got trouble in dilution.

We started with a walk to the farm, met some super chill sheep, and even learned about IVF and yes, actually collecting sperm and doing ultrasounds on animals. Then it was back to the lab for plant culture, where we worked with mini banana plants which were so cute. The seminar was crazy too we literally saw sperm under a microscope and learned how to dilute it. Wrapped up the night with a DIY karaoke session, and honestly the vibes were immaculate. 🔬💉🐑

My day at Glami Lemi was truly thrilling because everything I experienced was something new for me. I kept discovering things that I had never tried before. Ofc, the food there was absolutely the best, and sharing meals with everyone made it even more special. Even though I am not from a scientific background, but our friends patiently explained and guided me, which really helped me to understand the lessons better.

went to Glami Lami and was really surprised by the beautiful view. I hoped to see some stray cats, but sadly I didn’t find any. The most fun part of the trip was the homemade campfire activity. We sat together, laughed, and enjoyed the night. I even sang “Golden” by Huntrix, and it made my throat hurt, but it was still a great memory. The whole experience felt special and full of good vibes.

On this day, first of all, we celebrate the Independence Day of Malaysia. After that, we've got a chance to study about the animal reproduction system. And also, we have a chance to do some experiment like collecting the sperms and seeing the ultrasound of the sheep. Also, we make some nutrition for the sheep. Because the sun was so bright, yes, then we have a chance to grab some delicious food there. There are a lot of birds around the campus. In the break time, I took a long nap like one hour.

Then, we enjoy the tissue culture studies. After that, we pack to return to our campus in Kuala Lumpur. And I love to meet new roommates there. I met Tilo and Lin Jim there.

My favorite part is the karaoke part. We sang a lot of songs together. And one memorable thing is that I fell down on the rocky ground when we have to take off from the campus. But I feel like I worth it because I got new experiences there. It was really fun and full of excitement the whole day.

Thae July Htun jujuice

🇲🇾🐑🎤

Today was an exciting whirlwind of new experiences and hands-on learning. From the moment the day began, I found myself diving into activities I had never tried before. One of the most fascinating things I learned was about composting how organic waste can be turned into rich, fertile soil. It made me appreciate the natural cycles of life and how waste can become something valuable again.

Then came a truly unexpected experience: learning about the artificial insemination of sheep. I was introduced to the various equipment used in the process, and even got to see what sheep sperm looks like up close something I never imagined I’d encounter! It was strange at first, but incredibly educational, especially in understanding how technology supports modern farming and animal husbandry.

Another highlight was experimenting with growing bananas without using any fertilizer. It was interesting to learn how alternative, sustainable farming methods can still yield healthy crops. Nature really does have its own quiet magic when we give it the chance.

To end the day, I helped make a simulated campfire complete with storytelling and laughter. Even though it wasn't a real fire, it brought warmth to the experience and made the day feel complete.

Coming to Glami Lami has been such a fun and eye-opening journey. Being surrounded by nature and learning about the way of life here has taught me so much, not just about agriculture, but about appreciating the world around us. I’ll carry these memories and lessons with me for a long time.

🐐☀️💚

I’m Maprang (Rina)

It is been so long since I walked to a green and clean nature. I tried trying the ultrasound to see the sheep's baby.🐐 I also learned their food processing. I enjoyed it that made me appreciate how science and technology advances our community. We rode the truck going back and this is my first time to ride that kind of car hahahaha

In the afternoon, our group was really immersed in the plant tissue culture that we got to finish it immediately. I learned so much about research in the short talk about plastic pollution and really understand the importance of having a good data as it will serve as baseline and for your story.

Lastly, I had a lot of fun in the karaoke session. I sang a filipino song (Mr. Kupido) and I was shocked when all of them can jam as well! hahaha

😯😁🥰

For obvious reasons, I've never done an ultrasound before. And I didn't expect that i would do my first one on a sheep! But i did, and it was pretty interesting (?) and i don't wanna do it again. It was squishy and warm and weird. At least i got a nice ultrasound pic out of it though. Also, i didn't expect to watch my friends help sheep masturbate and collect their sperm, but i guess yesterday was a surprising day. Afterwards, we learned about tissue culture and looked around some pretty cool labs. In the evening we had a nice dinner (that was supposed to be by the campfire, but it rained💔), and did karaoke which was soooo fun! 10/10 day.

This day is the most amazing experience I've ever had, since the biotechnology research center is located in the mountain, I felt like I was home. Handling the black belly-sheep and checking for chances of pregnancy amazes me. Checking the quality of the semen that we got educated me. This day inspires me to do better in my field, environmental science. To hope the one day I can contribute something that I worked hard for.

We started the day with a super special Malaysian breakfast, nasi lemak, the best breakfast throughout the camp so far!

Our first stop was a sheep farm where we learned about breeding Barbara Black Belly sheep. At the biotech lab, we discovered how scientists select the best sperm for breeding, and even how to detect pregnancy using ultrasound. Apparently, you can check the backbone to see if it’s healthy or not—so fascinating! 🐑🔬

Next, we explored banana cultivation through plant tissue culture, which showed us how biotechnology can be applied to agriculture in such a sustainable way. 🍌🌱

In the afternoon, we attended a lecture by Ms. Pauline on plastic waste research. One of the most powerful points she shared was:

“Data drives strong policies. No data can lead to weak policy.”

This really highlighted the importance of research in shaping effective environmental action. She also mentioned the importance of research methodology.

Overall, it was such an inspiring and knowledge-packed day—definitely one of my favorites so far!

The day was full of learning new things and being amazed by the creatures, nature and science. First of all the scenery of the place was mind blowing. And secondly the session with the sheep was great. The session that i enjoyed the most was the one about planting in tissue. It brought me a new perspective on how the future will be with science. Learnt soo many things. It was a very insightful session.

Day 7 was all about nature and learning. We visited the Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Centre and got hands-on with plant tissue culture. The funniest part was spending time with the sheeps 🐐, they were so cute (and a little naughty 🤭). At night, we wrapped up with a DIY karaoke session. It was the perfect mix of education and fun with friends~

Lim Jin, Malaysia

Mellaca was such a blast! I felt so happy strolling around the heritage sites and trying laksa, it was delicious! The weather was super hot, but the beauty of the buildings was just breathtaking. I also went to the beach and took tons of pictures there. Truly enjoyed exploring Mellaca, the charming old town.

On the second day, we visited Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Center, where I learned how to make compost and saw the sheep breeding process. I was surprised to find out that planting can also be done with agar. The seminar on net zero was really insightful. I realized that we still lack enough plastic researchers and proper methodologies to support the government in making effective policies. This visit really inspired me to start making small changes from myself🤩✨🪴
