Students will be asked to research different recycling labels. They will learn and understand each label well enough to then categorize items. These items can either be recyclable or not, and students will have to determine the proper bin it will go in. Using information learned from the videos, websites, and books, students will demonstrate their understanding of proper recycling, as well as how recycling can positively affect their planet. Students will learn about the effects waste has on their community, such as Wrightsville Beach. 

To assess students understanding of what they learned, students will play a game of basketball. There will be different "baskets" or bins that represent the different recycling labels, or regular waste. Students will work in teams to properly throw different items into their correct bins. Students will reflect on the activity after completion.
