Loyola Marymount University graduate, Taylor Tomnitz is the daughter of the former D.R. Horton CEO, Donald J. Tomnitz. The country’s largest home builder is now lucky to have her after her father’s retirement, since Taylor Tomnitz was the 2016 top real estate sales agent for the Los Angeles and Ventura county division, in both units sold and total dollar amount.

Her specialty is high-end single-family homes, and in just the last four months, Ms. Tomnitz sold 17 houses in Orange County alone. She is currently focusing her attention in Rancho Palos Verdes, where homes in the Emerald at Casaba Estates in Rolling Hills Estates are selling for $2.4 to $3.5 million.

Born feisty and competitive, Taylor Tomnitz has played competitive soccer since she was six years old, and she’s been training for the last eight years at the Wild Card West Boxing Club in Santa Monica.

Ms. Tomnitz also donates to the Habitat for Humanity.

Boxing - A Brief History

A top sales agent at D.R. Horton, Taylor Tomnitz has worked at the Los Angeles-based home construction firm since 2003. Outside of the office, Taylor Tomnitz enjoys staying active by playing soccer and boxing.

Boxing, which is also called pugilism, is an ancient sport that dates back several millennia. In fact, hieroglyphic evidence shows that boxing was a very popular activity throughout Egypt and the Nile Plateau, starting in the year 4000 BC. Boxing’s popularity eventually spread throughout the Mediterranean region, and the sport became an essential part of the ancient Olympic Games in 686 BC.

Although ancient boxing resembled the modern version in some ways, it was a much more brutal and bloody affair. Matches were staged on open plots of ground, and early Roman boxers fought with metal-studded gloves that often caused serious injury or even led to the death of one of the fighters.

Following the collapse of the Roman Empire, boxing disappeared as a form of entertainment for several centuries. It eventually resurfaced in late 17th-century England, and by 1880, uniform rules of conduct were established to regulate organized amateur boxing. Boxing made its modern Olympic debut in 1904 and has been part of each of the Games played since, except those held in Stockholm in 1912. Today, both amateur and professional boxing are popular worldwide.
