In 1998, Michelle and her second husband, Dave, bought 10.5 acres of land on the Northwest side of Tucson. Her husband was a custom home builder, so they built a custom home on the front five acres and sold it, and they built their dream home on the back 5.5 acres. Michelle was very proud of this house and loved designing it. She was very sad when they sold it after they got divorced in 2019. She says it was her dream home and that she thinks about it every day.

Michelle's biggest piece of advice is to stay in school and finish college because she believes you're more employable if you have a college degree and theoretically make more money. Michelle doesn't think that society takes very good care of old people in the United States, but recognizes that it is worse for older people in other countries.

She thinks that politicians don't care about older adults, especially today, since they want to cut Medicare and Medicaid and talk about getting rid of Social Security.

She did say that she has a lot of good doctors who care about her and take good care of her, which she finds comforting.

When Michelle was very young, women were not able to have a credit card, could not buy a home without a husband, couldn't have access to birth control or abortions. She is happy that women have more freedom and independence today, but is concerned about women's rights.
