Moreover, I think that learning English through debate will improve students' reading, writing and speaking skills on top of it facilitating social interaction, which is almost absent in zoom lesons.
I have very little knowledge of how to conduct it properly or how to find a good deating topic, I have tried using youtube tutorials but found that it mostly confused me.

This course is a great opportunity for me to learn the truth behind the world of debate. I am looking forward to opening a debate pilot group in my school. My students are used to speak out in front of audiences in Hebrew mainly because they study in PBL programs. I hope that this course will give me teaching ideas and tools which I will later use with my students. 
I would like to know what would be the best way to break out the fear behind speaking in English among students. What would help them enhance their self confidence and push them to argue in a polite and confident way. 

One speech that I like to show my 9th graders is Simon Sinek's. I think both the topic and his  charisma can be a great influence.

I think that in order to debate one has to research a topic, relate to different aspects of it and to present a reflection of the topic in the attempt to convince others of one's acquired knowledge. If we apply this in class, students will read about a topic they are interested in or listen to a relevant video clip, summarize main points that are needed in order to build their arguments, and eventually present them in front of their peers. In terms of using language, students will be reading, listening, writing and talking. I would like to learn more about the process so I would be able to help my students become better speakers. I expect to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to do this by the end of the course.

My question is - what is the difference between public speaking and debating?
