It is important because we are all the same species and it doesn't matter the race, gender, or who other people can love. In addition lots of people face discrimination everyday and asides from making people feel bad about themselves, discrimination can also get dangerous and lead to serious injury or even death. Just a couple years ago, George Floyd was unjustly murdered by a police officer due to his race.

it impacts almost everyone in the world, for example: Black People have been treated badly compared to white people for decades. Jews have also been discriminated against for a very long time because they are part of a different religion. People also discriminate against gays and lesbians because they like other people from the same gender and people just don't like that and because of the bible people dislike it even more.

A Brief History of Discrimination

Discrimination has been around for a very long time. It has been around long enough for us not to really know when it started. However, the first big sign of it being a major issue was after slavery in America. During the 17th and 18th centuries black people were considered less then white people and had less rights than white people. In America this became a big issue as black people were forced to work for white people as slaves! People from Africa were kidnapped and forced to be slaves for American Colonies and to this day it influence racial discrimination against black people. Also, in recent times, the world has learned to be more accepting of homosexuality. As of 2019, 30 countries and territories have enacted national laws to allow for gay and lesbian people to officially marry by law. There are still parts of the world that don't accept of this but in recent years there have been lots of efforts to improve this. Some ways people may discriminate against lesbian and gay people may be by firing them, not providing service to them, and in extreme cases they may even be killed. This is why it's so important to get rid of discrimination all over the world.

There are lots of government policies put in place to prevent discrimination. For example, in Canada there is The Canadian Human Rights act. This act protects Canadians from being treated unfairly when getting employed or when receiving service from others. These policies help get rid of discrimination and increase equal opportunity for everyone.
