James Marcia's Identity Theory

Marcia believed that identity was mostly based on two things: occupation and ideology. He proposed that there are 4 major identity statuses: 1) Identity Diffusion- have no idea who you are or who you want to be, timid to adventure or make commitments. 2) Foreclosure- people who have made commitment, but have not explored much outside of that. 3) Moratorium- people continually explore options but never make a commitment. 4) Identity Achievement- comfortable with themselves, don't need others opinions, made commitments that make them comfortable and happy

My stage of identity..

Based on Marcia's stages, I think that I am at the Moratorium stage. This is because I am actively trying to be a better person, for my benefit. This is mainly because of the things I encounter and face on my own, and a lot of the time I don't know who to become from it, how to react, or what to take from a situation in order for it not to make me become a certain way. There's more "you should be..." from other people than there is from myself. Emotionally I try to better myself and compare my personality type to others. I also say this because I switch very often on what I want to be in the near future, I am very hesitant on which career would be better for me and what I would succeed best in.
