This would be a super cute activity to do with preschoolers, or toddlers! Have each child cut out an apple and they can do what they want to it: color, paint, glue fun things. Then, they can have their hand traced and cut out. Glue that and a leaf to the top of it. I would already have the poem typed and cut out and they can glue it on the back of their apple. This would make a wonderful keepsake for parents to look back on, plus the children can see how much they have grown each year. Most young children do not know who he is, so finish it off with a good book about Johnny Appleseed! So fun!

This would be a great activity for children to explore the inside of an apple and the different texture of the inside and the outside. Then the child could be creative and paint with the apple and learn different colors and shapes that they can make with the apples.

Pour your red paint into a cup or bowl and mix in a teaspoon or two of cinnamon.
Have the children pain their plate red.
Next, help them paint their hand print.
Use brown paper to make the stem, then have the children assemble their apple together

In a plastic tub put red and green pom poms to represent apples and use two toilet paper rolls with green cut outs to make tress and glue some green pom poms on one and red on the other (for older kids you can write red and green on the trees)and have the kids use some grabbers to pick up the pom poms and put them in the tube with the matching color (red with red and green with green. This will help with fine motor skills and its fun for the kids.

I love the idea of getting the kids to be artistic. This project would give the kids an opportunity to paint and put together there very own apple tree.

This Paper Plate Apple Lacing Activity is a fun way for young children to work on developing their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

How To Make A Paper Plate Apple Lacing Activity:

Supplies:
Paper Plate

Red Paint
Paint Brush
Hole Punch
Brown Construction Paper
Green Construction Paper
Scissors
Glue
Yarn

Directions:

To begin, paint a paper plate with the red paint. To save time, you can use a red paper plate instead of painting a white one.
While the paint dries, cut the stem of the apple out of the brown construction paper and a leaf or two out of the green construction paper.After the paint dries, punch holes that are about one inch apart around the rim of the paper plate. Next, glue the stem and leaf to the top of the paper plate.

I really like the idea of helping the students count with apples. You get two different color apples and help your students count with them to 10 and also help them make patterns and recognize them.

Crafts that include coffee filters are always a fun idea!

To do this activity, each child would get a tray with the following materials:

Coffee filter
Spray bottle filled with water
Apple-colored markers (we used red, green, and yellow)

To begin you just color on the coffee filter with markers where ever you want. You don't have to fill the whole filter. When finished coloring you then spray the coffee filter with water for the marker ink to begin separating and to spread all over the filter.

I love the idea of a handprint apple tree! I would have the kids paint a tree trunk and then make handprints as the leaves. Then with their fingers make dots that are the apples. You can never lose with finger paint!!

I googled some cool ideas to do with apples for preschoolers. There were a bunch of awesome ideas, but one that really stood out to me was making play dough out apples.Each child can make their own play dough and have in the classroom.

In the Toddler room we painted with apples. We cut the apples in half and looked at the seeds. We had green apples and red apples. I let the children pick what apple they wanted to paint with. I also asked them what color their apple was that they chose. Our children loved it! At snack time we had canned baked apples with cinnamon on them while we read a book about apples.

I think Preschoolers would love this experiment with apples. Every year we go to the apple orchard and we pick apples, taste different types, and have apple cider. They explain the different parts of the apple. We could take some apples with us. When we get back we fill a cup with water, add apple seeds, and place Alka Seltzer tables in the cup. Watch the seeds jump around! They will move for about ten minutes. If you want to watch them jump again, just place another tablet in the water!

When I was in second grade we went an apple orchard and we all picked our favorite apples to bring home. It was a very great experience when I was a kid. When we came back from school our teacher had this picture hanging up in our classroom and she quizzed us on the apple. i think kids would love to get to know what they eat, it would be a great experience for them.

Apple Stamping Craft
I work with children that are 10-15 months in age and this project would be something they would enjoy doing. Materials needed are: white card stock, brown construction paper, red paint, green paint,glue stick, and an apple cut in half. Cut brown construction paper in strips to weave together to make basket and glue them to the white paper. Dip one of the apple halves in red paint and push down on white paper. Dip the other apple half into the green paint and push down on the white paper. Repeat with both colors until you fill the basket with apples

In my classroom I work with children between the age of 1 and 2. The kids I work with they love to cut things out and are always looking out the windows in our classroom. I love sun catchers and different art that reflects in the sun that the children can look at. I would do this art with the children and let them cut out the pieces that go in the center of the apple and let them hang it up on the window where they would like!

I love the idea of making an apple tree with a child's hand prints, then using their thumb and fingerprints as apples to go in the tree. We also have songs that preschool teaches about apples and things that you can make with them, unfortunately since everything is shut down right now my son hasn't got to bring home any of the stuff this year!

When I was in school I always remember starting of Johnny Appleseed day with a story. After reading the story I would ask each child about their favorite color of apple and make a chart to show who all liked what. After that we would make a tissue paper apple based of what color of apple you like. I would do a tissue paper apple because I remember always liking to do crafts with it as a kid. It is also a different texture so kids tend to like using it because it something different other than crayons or markers. During the craft you can have the kids cut out their apple and glue on the tissue paper. For this craft you will need an outline of an apple, tissue paper (red, green, yellow), and brown marker for the stem.

In school we always read a book about Johnny Appleseed and then we made paper hats to wear all day just like he did. That was always a fun day because it was always filled with everything apples! In my classroom I would read a book about apples to the children and then bring in different apples. I would cut open the apples and them see the insides. I would then show the kids the different parts of the apples. To follow up with that I would give kids apples for snack and a coloring page of the parts of the apple and they could color the apple the color of their choice and then copy the colors of the rest of the parts!

I had my kids help me! We made a bird feeder out of apples. First, we talked about what different colors apples were and then what was inside the apple. Then I cut their apples open and placed them face down, then I asked each of them to guess how many seeds they each had inside their apples. Then we flipped them over and counted the seeds. We then took a spoon and dug out a little bit of the middle of the apple and spread some peanut butter in the middle. After that we took some seeds, nuts, and raisins and put them on the peanut butter. Last, we took a string and tied it around the apple and hung them on our porch! During this we learned what colors apples were, what were inside the apples, what birds like to eat, and that apples can be used for different things other than just to eat!

I work with 2 year olds and we did an activity close to this and they loved it. For our project we gave them a paper plate and let them choose between green, red, and yellow and then we let them finger paint the entire plate. After letting this dry we cut both sides and added a stem to ours. Doing so the kids were able to use there fingers and get creative with the plate as well as choosing a color. At this age they really enjoyed being able to use their fingers and it turned out really cute!

when I was in school we uses just talk about what he did with the apple when I was younger and never the journey before he started planting. So when I become a teacher I want to talk about the journey before and the process of how a apple is made. I would also have each child take a cup put so fertilizer in it the we would put the seed. and then put a little bit of water on it and put it on a window seal and watch them grow.

Something we could do for apples is to get out the red, yellow, and green paint! Then, we would need apples cut in half down the middle. Of course beforehand we would go over the shape of an apple, and the basics; the colors they can be, the stem, and how they can have a leaf attached. Then, we would let the children paint the inside of the apples where they were cut down the middle, and use them as stamps on a piece of paper.

I like the idea of the Apple sensory bins. Using applesauce, sliced apples and whole apples. With infants you almost have to find something edible, as they put everything in their mouth. This would be a great way for them to use the sensory bin and see, taste and feel the different textures of apples.

I would have an apple activity twice a day to learn everything about apples and fall. I would also take the kids outside to show visual how apples grow from start to finish. I would also use paint and sponge to mimic apples. I would bake mini apple bread, apple pie, apple sauce for babies who cannot eat food yet. I would even dress as an apple different color each day and dress up as an apple pie, or apple cookies for circle time. I would also sing different apple songs each week. If the child wants to come to school dressed up as an apple, that would be okay! If the child cannot have certain flours and cannot have sugar. I would have sugar-free and gluten-free options.

This would be a great activity for really most young age groups, like toddler through pre-k. It would be a super fun, hands on activity to incorporate learning more about apples. Using an apple itself for create artwork will be super interesting for a child to do. You could even do the same color paint as the apple, in order to incorporate learning colors with children.

The activity I would do with my students, is I would have them put a pot on their heads and pretend they are Johnny Appleseed. My grade school teacher had me do this activity is when I was younger and I feel that I learned a lot from that activity. The activity brought the class together and we all had fun.

This is one activity that I would love to do with my students. I do a similar one with pumpkins in the fall. This is a great way to show students how apples grow. I also use these apples to do apple painting after removing the seeds from them!

Provide the class with plastic apples that are red, yellow, and green and 3 baskets. Have them sort the apples by color and match it to the basket. Place the red apples in the red basket, yellow apples in the yellow basket and green apples in the green basket. Have a lesson on how an apple grows from a seed to a tree and explain how the apples grow on the trees and there are different kinds of and colors of apples. Then for snack have different apples that are red, yellow, and green. The children can taste test each color of apple to see if they taste different or if they like one more than the others.
