Pre-Colonial period refers to the art before the coming of the first colonizers. During those times the Philippines already have an indigenous art tradition that is unique and rich. Culture and traditions were passed on during community gathering through stories, songs, chants, music, and dance. Rituals are considered the earliest form of theater where it involves music, dance and even literature.

https://www.preceden.com/timelines/615669-history-of-philippine-art#:~:text=Pre-Colonial%20period%20refers%20to%20the%20art%20before%20the,gathering%20through%20stories%2C%20songs%2C%20chants%2C%20music%2C%20and%20dance.
https://www.preceden.com/timelines/667670-history-of-philippine-art#:~:text=Pre-Colonial%20or%20Pre-Conquest%20Period%20900%20-%201521%20The,were%20for%20ritual%20purposes%20or%20everyday%20use%20only.

The variety and abundance of Philippine literature evolved even before the colonial periods. Folk tales, epics, poems and marathon chants existed in most ethno linguistic groups that were passed on from generation to generation through word of mouth. Tales associated with the Spanish conquest also took part in the country’s rich cultural heritage. Philippine Pre-colonial Literature.

Sandayo of the Subanon tells of the story of the hero with the same name, who is born through extraordinary circumstances as he fell out of the hair of his mother while she was combing it on the ninth stroke. Thence, he leads his people in the fight against invaders of their land and waterways.

https://www.slideshare.net/AttheaJaneLepiten/philippine-literature-and-texts-precolonial-times-and-spanish-colonizations-77510710#:~:text=The%20variety%20and%20abundance%20of%20Philippine%20literature%20evolved,took%20part%20in%20the%20country%E2%80%99s%20rich%20cultural%20heritage.

Before the recorded history of the Philippines, before the Spanish conquistadors conquered and Christianized the populace, from the earliest occupation of this volcanic archipelago, the people danced. They danced to appease the gods, to curry favor from powerful spirits, to celebrate a hunt or harvest, to mimic the exotic life forms around them. They danced their stories and their shamanic rituals, their rites of passage and their remembered legends and history.
Rural dances include such favorites as the high-stepping Tinikling, which mimics a bird, and the Gaway-Gaway, which features the movements of children pulling the stalks of the gaway roots during a bountiful harvest. The pagan tribes, the Higaonon, Subanon, Bagogo, and others who have inhabited the Philippines for thousands of years, preserved their customs and symbolic dances. Partly through isolation, they kept their culture free from the influence of the waves of immigrants who settled the archipelago over the centuries.

https://dance.lovetoknow.com/Philippine_Folk_Dance_History#:~:text=In%20the%20Philippines%2C%20folk%20dance%20is%20a%20strong,occupation%20of%20this%20volcanic%20archipelago%2C%20the%20people%20danced.
https://www.pinterest.ph/sunlitskies/pre-colonial-philippines/
