1. Firstly im developing my flexibility by stretching more often and exercising almost everyday so I can get better at controlling flexibility balance. Secondly I’m developing my stamina by eating healthy (making sure I also include carbs) and limiting my resting time. Lastly I’m developing my posture by tucking my stomach in, standing straight and tall and making sure I do this everyday even when I’m sitting.

2. I see abusive relationship when I’m sitting down in fear and my partner has folded his arms almost showing that he controls everything. I also see two people who are almost very a like and this can be seen when me and my partner stand together with our arms folded and sit down together with fear/nervousness on our faces. Furthermore I see a bond between 2 siblings through my partners gestures by the use of my nervousness when sitting down and partner standing up with folded arms suggesting that he will always protect as it is the duty of an older sibling.

So firstly we were taught about how the voice works and the keywords e.g larynx. Secondly we did some vocal warm ups e.g 54321 and chicken tikka, mango lassi songs. We also done sirens as it informs us if our voice is working well and it’s just a good warm up exercise in general. I learnt new things about the voice and how it works.

This scene is 5 years after. Grace comes to see her son Anthony since she finished education and is willing to take care of her son as a mother. However her aunt Linda, who adopted her son, refuses to give the baby back since she is very attached to her legally adopted child. So grace makes sure she gets her biological son back and leaves the house by giving a clear warning to her aunt Linda “I’ll get him back”. This shows grace’s commitment to get her son back, however this also motivates Linda to not give her adopted child to her niece and will do anything to keep him, this is portrayed through her anger and jealousy in this scene.

I wanted to communicate with my audience about my idea that women do not have to stay quite in a abusive relationship/marriage. I used stamina and stamped out loud to show that enough is enough and things won’t carry on like this.

I think what communicated the most firstly was when we both placed hands on eachothers chest and said love to show that it was the beginning of the love story and everything was going well. Secondly I think it was when we tried to put me down on the chair multiple times justifying his level and showing that he is the “boss” in this relationship. Lastly it was when I threw the rubber band he tied on my hair (which justified that he was insecure and would not letting me do anything) explaining to the audience that we should not take it and should stand up for ourselves if want to have a better future.

During the rehearsal our performance has definitely changed since we’re confused at first and wanted to show a healthy relationship that lasts since in this generation there are rarely couples that last more than 5 years or end up getting married. But we thought It’d be no fun to watch if we don’t make the audience feel some type of communication or feeling as if something like that has happened to them too they would engage and understand it better and also the realisation that you have to stand up for yourself because no one else will do it for you.

Ancient Greek Theatre

The Greek theatre history began with festivals honoring their gods. A god, Dionysus, was honored with a festival called by "City Dionysia" (where men performed songs to welcome Dionysus).

At the early Greek festivals, the actors, directors, and dramatists were all the same person. However after some time, only three actors were allowed to perform in each play, due to limited number of actors allowed on-stage and music was often played during the chorus' delivery of its lines.

Theatre buildings were called a theatron. The theaters were large, open-air structures constructed on the slopes of hills and consisted of three main elements: the orchestra, the skene, and the audience. Also most of the plays played were about tragedy and comedy.

Audience were very influential in the success of the play. If an audience disliked a part of the play, they showed their dissatisfaction by “mocking the actors, yelling or throwing food”. To make the audience get ready for the performance, the actors would have to do something outrageous and interesting to get their attention, like telling a joke or teasing people in the audience. Sometimes play writers would try to “win over” their audience through “flattery and giving out small gifts to the audience”. To ensure that the audience spoke well of the actors, playwright and most importantly, the play, plays were performed in the round and last but not least some theatres were outside, so were open to difficult weather conditions.

Elizabethan Theatre

The Elizabethan Theatre in London including the Globe Theatre. The plays, the drama, the people, the actors, the events and the history.

Staging:

Theatre was built in “lavish” style and provided exciting visual effects, using rope for flying entrances, trap doors for surprising entrances and exits. However before they had no stage lighting therefore they were performed in daylight, actors only had “limited props” and costumes, “no female actors” so female roles were played by males, audiences were a lot different to modern day audiences, many of them would stand in crowds and eat and drink while the performances were on.

Costumes:

Often bright in colour which would usually attract the audience. Since costumes were limited, they had to use them in several plays until they were too worn to be used and also because costumes were very expensive before therefore they usually had to wear contemporary clothing and “only the lead character would have authentic costume”.

Edward Alleyn, Henry Condell, William Shakespeare, Richard Burbage and John Hemmings were probably the most famous of all Elizabethan actors since they were the actors who brought the plays and their plots to life.

Description of how it looked like:

-Its open arena - the actors would also get wet if it rained.

-amphitheatre is up to 100 feet in diameter.

-have octagonal, circular in shape having between 8 and 24 sides

Building materials: Timber, nails, stone (flint), plaster and thatched roofs.

Duration: 6 months

20th Century Theatre

20th Century Theatre is known as a great place for conferences and meetings. The 20th Century Theatre is a Grade II listed English Heritage Building and now a fully restored London venue. They were often multi-sided buildings, with a covered platform stage against one side. The audience sat or stood in covered galleries around the other sides or in the open courtyard. All the performances took place in daylight.

The achievements of realism at the end of the 19th century continued to resonate through the turn of the 21st century, but the most influential innovation in early 20th-century theatre came from a vigorous reaction against realism

Most used theatre genres:

-Comedy

-Tragedy

-Melodrama

-Fantasy

-Romantic comedy

-Farce

-Theatre for social change

Costumes and props:

During the 20th century the costumes they wore were very vintage old fashioned clothing. There were a lot of printed clothing such as flowery dresses.

The props they used in the 20th century were mostly fake cigars.

Audience:

Early in the 20th century, the target audience was the wealthy, especially during the Great Depression, as very few people had the extra money to spend on luxuries like plays. However as time went on, and after plays like death of a salesman, shows started to include the middle class and discuss the problems of an average man.

Changes:

The modern period had many remarkable playwrights and plays that challenged society and traditional ideals. The early 20th century had productions that emphasised the social and psychological struggles of everyday life and transitioned theatre from something just for the elite and wealthy, to something the average person could enjoy and relate with.
