Our week of learning was so pleasant as the cute learners continued to explore sounds, "a and s" through sorting and finding objects from the mystery tub. It was indeed very engaging for the little ones!

Learning numbers has not been the same. In numeracy, the children learnt their numbers in a fun way as they quantified numbers 1 and 2 with the use of different manipulatives (play dough, ice cream cones, pretend cup cakes and candles) What a fun way to learn numbers!
Also, to be more accurate, the children engaged in scribbling and making straight lines and dots which was a good way of loosen their grips.

In other to explore an opportunity and to create space for learners to explore, the children embarked on their half term project- Creating Own Marks!. They used their creative skills to draw, write, paint and scribble on shapes (circle, triangle and square). It was really a great achievement as they applied their real world observations into the project. Great job friends!

NEXT WEEK'S LEARNING:
* Revision- sounds, shapes and numbers
*Introducing class room duties- meal helpers and line leaders
*Learning classroom vocabulary including objects, people and feelings
*Parent Teachers Conference (PTC)

The last week of the first half term has been so full of fun and learning. We revised some concepts done in the past weeks and the children also participated in engaging activities to apply these concepts.
To continue with our fine motor activities, such as pegging that has helped in strengthening the grip, the children were super excited to participate in the dish and bib washing activities with pegging on the robe. It was a moment of taking responsibility!
The children showed so much interest in the musical session with Kunbi as they sung, wiggled and danced to the music and instrument played. They also carried out a creative activity where they crafted out big and small fish with the use of glitters and match sticks . It looked so pretty!.
The students also engaged in sorting of colours related to emotions. They related colours (Red, Blue and Yellow) to the way they are feeling and they ended up knowing more about their friends and their feelings as they gave hugs to feel good and happy . It was so thoughtful!.

We ended the week and indeed the first half term in a colorful and musical way!
Well done kiddos and have a restful break!.

Week 1....We Learn through Play!!!

This week began with a wonderful Halloween celebration- we played games relevant to the occasion, scooped our pumpkins and read a story with a jack-o-lantern.

We also expressed and learnt through play as we played fun games, scooped sand, picked leaves and seeds to fill bottles. Through creativity, the children were able to "open the bottles , fill them up and shut the containers", this sensory activity helped stimulate our senses- touch, feel, sight etc . The children learnt the vocabulary word "open and shut" and they danced to the rhyme for the week (open and shut them, give a little clap…).

The students showed so much interest as they continued to learn their sounds. They were introduced to sound " t" and objects that begin with it . It was fun seeing the children sort out objects with initial sounds "s, a, and t".

Number 3 looks more relatable as the children identified them while playing, walking and reading. Teachers introduced the number with multiple manipulatives so it's fun to learn and quantify the number.

The children really made sense of the world that surrounds them through all the learnings that took place this week.

Keep it up, kiddos!!

Next week, we will learn:

spatial awareness

more/less concept

action words- run, walk, crawl, hop

See you next week!! :)

To help children distinguish whether numbers/objects are more or less, we engaged in an activity of scooping sand into a bucket to show the one that is more or less which was amazingly done by the cute learners as they screamed and demonstrated MORE, LESS! from their bucket of sand. So adorable!

To understand the sense of space, the children explored different shapes (circle, triangle, square) with colourful manipulatives (wooden blocks, colourful plates, Legos and unifix cubes) to fit in the shapes.. It looks so pretty!.

Following rules and regulations promotes learning, this made the children to embark in an obstruction activity by walking on pattern balls and sorting colours with bean bags, crawling through a turnel to match sounds (s,a,t) and objects, the children also enjoyed hopping and jumping in a holla hop to quantify numbers (1,2,3). It was really a challenge the fantastic learners created and also found solutions to obstructions in learning.

The children related "t" sound to the objects around them. They made a "t as in Tree" with some red apples on it which they admired so much.

Our clear rules and regulations really created a conducive atmosphere for learning!.

Good job kiddos!.

NEXT WEEK LEARNING!

Introduction of sound "i".

*Pretend market role play

*How we are different from others

*Rhyme for the week "Hookey Pookey"

Learning sounds in French is so pleasing to the ear and this amazes the children again this week to sort their sounds (s,a,t), matching a blown balloon to the right picture sounds.
It was fun as the cute learners played with the balloons and at the same time figured out and matched the sound on balloons to the pictures using their vocabularies correctly. Bravo kiddos!.

Beaucoup (MORE), un Peau (LESS) were the words the children kept outering during the circle time and on the playground as they demonstrated and screamed the action vocabulary in french. This shows how much ability the children had to keep their mind young and active. Great Job!

To support more understanding of the French language, the children were introduced to fruits and vegetables in French correctly as they got the right vocabulary to each of the fruits and vegetables introduced (Banana - La banane, Strawberry - La Fraise, Orange- L'orange, Apple - La pomme, Pineapple- L'ananas, Watermelon - La pastèque). The children keenly enjoyed seeing the pictures of each of the fruits and vegetables displayed as they learnt and pointed when instructed. Also to make it a memorable experience for the children, we embarked on a nature walk to the garden to carry out a planting activity. The smart children found it so interesting to plant their seeds of corn as they repeatedly said maïs, maïs(corn). Hoping to see our little mais plant grow big soon!.

To stimulate the children's imagination and interaction, they imagined how colourful Christmas is and they made a craft (boule de Noël), they chose their favourite colours and communicated it in french and the crafts looked so pretty and adorable as it reminds the children that Christmas is near. Well done!

French lessons this week were enjoyable and memorable to our amazing learners and we look forward to having more great moments.
Next week:
We will

-Reinforce the vocabulary related to fruits and vegetables
- Introduce sound '' m''
-Quantify number 3
- Revise colours and shapes

This year Hindu Festival of lights(Diwali) took a different turn as the school gathered and engaged in sharing with each other the importance and relevance of Diwali which was done through presentation of speech, pictures etc. Adding to the mood of the celebration, the children were dressed in different Indian traditional attire and also enjoyed the sumptuous India meal . It was indeed enjoyed by one and all.

Learning this week was super engaging as the little learners were introduced to the letter sound “i” and they happily demonstrated, sung and danced to the introduction song. Well done friends!.

To enhance the sense of numbers and quantity, the children engaged in numbers quantification as they were able to identify numbers 1,2,3 by automatic recognition through the use of manipulatives ( colourful balls, hula hop). They had so much fun taking turns to embark on a mini relay race to quantify and sort the numbers. It was an important number sense skill for children to master. Great effort learners!.

The fun and engaging week ended as we celebrated Anti Bullying Day during the whole school assembly. Our super cute learners demonstrated how to stop bullying which they understood as“kindness to our friends” and they boldly stepped forward to thumb print as an evidence that “our school is a bully free zone!. What an awareness session!.

NEXT WEEK LEARNING!

*Introduction of In and Out concept.

*Continuation of sound "i"

This week's learning included the concept of "In and Out”. The children identified when an object/someone is 'in' and when it's 'out' as the children nicely dapped stamps in and out of the circle. The activity got the children engaged and this supported their progress towards vocabulary building. To help develop their understanding of the phonic sound ”i”, the children moved, demonstrated and sung the sound “i” rhyme. They explored the initial sound and also had fun making an “i” craft on insects. Good learning kiddos!.

Our TEA PARTY was the star activity of the week. Decorating paper cups, blowing balloons, setting tables, making sandwiches, serving chocolate cake , welcoming and serving guests etc are some of the activities that the children did during our class Tea party. The children nicely listened to the story” The tiger who came to tea”, and they pretended to use their dolls as their guests who were served sandwiches, cakes and mint tea.

It was an atmosphere that gave the children the opportunity to come up with their own ideas and role- play different scenarios, the activity helps the children to work together, find solutions to challenges and also builds their problem -solving skills. An enjoyable week, overall!

NEXT WEEK LEARNING!

Revision of numbers 1 to 4

Sounds s, a, t and i

Opposites

Weather and days of the week rhymes

It was a week filled with engaging activities.

To make predictions and to encourage reasoning skills, the children were introduced to Objects Patterning. They got engaged in different patterning activities using colourful manipulatives like papers, blocks, shapes, glitter stickers etc. this really required the ability of the children to recognize regularities in shapes, objects and colours to detest sameness and difference.

In making progress in vocabulary development, the sound “p” was introduced to the children as they wiggled and demonstrated the phonics rhymes. They explored the sound “p” in a new way by patterning it in colourful squares. They really loved the Puff!.

It's truly said that every story has its problems and solutions. The children enjoyed the story for the week “Dear Zoo” as they picked their favourite pets and created a house for it . They also differentiated the wild animals from friendly animals. In addition, the children got to understand words usable to know where things are as they learnt about Preposition words e.g On, under, front, back , beside etc This will indeed help them communicate better.

Furthermore, to promote grasps patterns and improve visual perception, the children explored ripping and cutting of papers with scissors as the week's fine motor skills activity.

Magic never stops and the adventure never ends. Adventure indeed never ends in tweenies French class.
This week's circle time took another beautiful dimension when the teacher (Ms. Sarah) and the children started dancing to a French rhyme. It was so pleasant to see the children demonstrate the lyrics of the rhyme and also sing the rhyme. Keep the fun of learning on kiddos.

It was another awesome learning period when the children explored the concept of prepositions. The children were made to use their favorite animals as manipulators and some manipulatives like tunnel, hulla hop, cones etc to showcase the preposition's vocabulary learnt (front- devant, back- derrière, in-Dedans , on- sur). They were able to respond to the new vocabulary in French and they had fun performing the actions.

Learning numbers qualifications was full of excitement and confidence as the children were made to draw circles to quantify numbers 1-5( un, deux, trois, quarte, cinq) on the board. They really loved it.

The children continued with the concept of house (Maison) this week as they explored different areas in the house (room- chambre, kitchen- cuisine, toilet- toilètte). They got excited to communicate one or two things about their houses as they saw a few pictures of the areas on flashcards and also identified them on the whiteboard. Additionally, the children continued with the story for the week (Boucle D'or) they identified the bedroom (chamber), bed(lit), chairs(chaise) and bowl(bol) in the story. They were amazed when they used their knowledgeable skill to stick the pictures to make a whole room from the story on a cardboard paper. Job well done friends!.

We have never had a dull week. We enjoyed learning French!. See you ne
xt week!.

Week 3- Inspired Week!

Animals are my friends and I don't eat my friends- (George Bernard). Indeed this week was inspiring seeing the children explore what their favorite pet animals are whom they also crafted a house for. They also expressed their dislikes for some animals which they liked to keep in the zoo.

They communicated their reasons for their favorite pets and also expressed their dislikes for the zoo animals which they believe can not stay in the house with them. It's amazing to see our young ones communicate their feelings about things around them. This brought them to the completion of their own story book about animals which was inspired from the classic story book " Dear zoo". Looking forward to our little authors reading their books. Well done kiddos!.

Guess what? We also explored number 4 just the way it is this week. The children got so engaged in the number 4 activity using manipulatives such as colorful bean bags, hula hoops and number maths to identify and quantify the number. Yes we get to know our number 4 in a super fun way!.

Length is being introduced to the children as what to use to describe how long an object is. They learnt 4 different sizes of length as "short, long, longer and longest. These were well arranged from the shortest to the longest by the children as they identified this in a fun way such as...baby, sister, mama and papa. It was funny but they understood the concept. Yippee!.

To recognize the relationship between words, the children explored physical activities to showcase some preposition words like "in, on, under, below, front and back" . They enjoyed this activity with the use of colorful scarves to display these positions during circle time. Indeed our language is developing. Yes we can do more!

We explored sound waves( s, a, t, i, p). This took a form of listening to sound rhymes, to climbing robe ladder, to pick the right sound and match the same sounds in the tray. It was a lots of sounds experiments .

The inspired week ended with beautiful and surprising looks on the faces of the children when they saw the settings of a Puppet Show and they got to listen to one of their favorite stories "Lion and the mouse" Great show it was.

The children were inspired in all areas of learning this week and sure we are ready for more . See you

next week!

As we developed and sharpen our grammar skills in French this week the children were engaged in an introduction line in French where the y call out their friends name and ask where they are in French as they say : où est Noa? and the response is : je suis là
Each of the children also introduced themselves in French saying: Je m'appelle Alex- My name is Alex. ,J'ai trois ans- I am 3 years old. We really improved our memory!.
This week learning atmosphere was success oriented as the children's successfully got used to the vocabulary of the right shapes and also sorted out robot shapes, used right vocabulary for colours, objects, numbers(un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq) and sounds.
Additionally our new sound "I" was introduced with dancing, jumping and demonstration mood. The children explored the big sound "I" and the small sound "i" with the use of flashcards and they identified objects with the sound "I". Well done smart learners!.
With full attention the children listened to the story behind the rhyme of the week( Dans la forêt Lointaine) as they identified the pictures in the story book and also danced to the rhyme, Is something missing?..Yes, we searched for Coucou Hibou(Owl) in the story as we imagined Hibou on the wood in the forest. It's sounds and looked so real!.
The week was crowned with a beautiful craft on "Night and Day". The children explored activities and pictures they know about Night and Day while learning the vocabulary in French ( jour - nuit).

We started the week with imagination and exploration. The children are becoming creative and resourceful by the way, they imagined and thought of how they spent their weekend which was expressed through scribblings, drawings and making colourful strokes.

Our language development keeps getting better by the day. The children explored their own rhymes this week, it sounds so interesting right?. They bop their heads, danced and made their rhymes using their favourite picture from the mystery box. This they did without fear of being judged. This helps the children hone their fine motor, language skills and boost their self confidence. So amazing!.In Addition, our amazing sound "n" was introduced with lots of dancing, demonstrations. The children explored the sound "n" and was able to sort out objects beginning with the sound as they play around making "nnnnnnnn" sound. Well done buddies!.

Beep, Beep, Beep!, it's Tween O'clock. Yes, this is another fun way we learn about time. They explored time as it has to do with waking up in the morning, time to snack, time for school, time for pick up and time to sleep at night. With different manipulatives such as, paper arrow, maths numbers, colourful hula hoops, we were able to know and see the long and short hand on a real clock and also it was an opportunity for the children to identify their numbers on the clock as they dance and sang to the week's rhyme "Hickory dickory dock" round the clock. Really a fun way to learn!.

Providing a safe space for exploration. The children smell, feel , touch, build their curiosity and expand their knowledge as they squeeze to develop their fine motor skills and also identify a star shape used as they pretend to erupt a volcano with the use of vinegar and baking soda. Yes, it was a learning experiment!.

Watch out for more explorations next week. Bye!.

The children settled in nicely and were happy to engage in group activities and black history month celebration.

The week was full of discovery as we explored the world of dinosaurs; the children were engaged in a fun activity to sort out living things and non living things as they made use of picture cards. They discovered and looked out for living things and nonliving things with using manipulatives such as shredded papers, plastic toys, animals, bugs, tweezers, spoons, leaves etc.. it was indeed a week where the children discovered themselves as living things.. so adorable!

We measured heights by counting how many dinosaurs tall each one was. What a way to learn quantification and the concept of tall/short by comparison.

We are looking forward to exploring more about different characteristics of the dinosaurs and the meaning of extinction.

They counted the numbers of dinosaurs that matched their heights and this really amazed them. It was really an enjoyable activity.

The week was a wholesome one from the black history celebration where the children showcase their sport skills just like Jesse Owens, the children also crafted their names on modelled T.rex dinosaurs. They all loved the craft.

The week came to an end with a sensory activity on how a T-Rex dinosaur will hatch its eggs. The children inquisitively made use of manipulatives like hammer, tweezers, salt, water to break out the baby dinosaur from an iced egg. We made it so real!!

To develop useful imaginative skills and to spark curiosity this week, the children continued to learn and explore about dinosaurs.

The children imagined dinosaur bones and they explored the world of dinosaurs and made the different bones using flour, salt and warm water. They did this and it really looked like bones after they were placed in the oven for two hours. Wow! It looks so real.

We learnt about the extinction of dinosaurs, how they moved away from the planet earth and the children got so curious about the dinosaurs' departure and they concluded to name themselves in place of these dinosaurs, which are: Jimiraptor, Abigailorex, Noasaurus, Sandydours, Hinelderdoctyl, Alexrex, Gagastop.. So cute right!.

To develop spatial reasoning, problem-solving skills and sort bases on pictures and colors, the children were engaged in a patterning activity where they sorted out dinosaurs by colors and arranged them. They look pretty well!.

Also, the children made predictions about objects that we sink or float. This also developed their understanding about how and why some objects float and others sink, as they made use of different manipulatives like stones, balls, spoons, papers and water as they identified and differentiated floating objects and sinking objects.

We encourage independent learning and decision making as we help the children to explore pieces of dinosaurs and they get so amazed to fix them to make them a whole picture. They were well fixed!.

The week was full of engaging activities where the children were involved in different and interactive activities from learning and identifying a new number 6, counting from 1 to 20 and also dancing and demonstrating to the action of a new sound ck (Curlicle c as in car, cat and Kicking k as in key, keg).

Digging, planting and watering were other engaging activities that children enjoyed which promoted their level of exercise and helped them due to imagination and creativity. The children had so much fun planting their seeds in the garden and they look forward to it growing to be a big plant.

Our week was also fruitful with different fruits of vegetables for the children to search for and identify. They harvested different fruits and vegetables from a pretend tree and were super proud of themselves when they packed their favorite fruits and vegetables in their crafted basket. It looks so real and colorful!.

The children were inquisitive as they got to know what some animals give us as food. Did you know that cows give us milk , chickens give us eggs and chicken meat, sheep give us wool which is used to make our sweater and bees give us honey?. Teaching the children where their food originated instills a sense of responsibility in them. And children demonstrated milking the cow which increased their fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination by milking the pretend cow udder .

It was indeed an engaging and interactive week!. See you next

week!.

Creativity opens the mind. It allows one to view and solve problems more openly and with innovation. This broadens the children's perspectives this week as they show their creativity skills in all activities.

The children created their own chants on how to take care of plants and animals such as, loving the animals, giving water to plants, feeding the animals, keeping the animals and cleaning them. So cute, Well done kiddos!. Also, the children demonstrated their creativity during the silly hat day, as they paraded and showcased their creatively constructed silly hats, it was colorful and beautiful!.

Creatively the children created their dinosaur costumes, they created their shoes and spines, they got them ready for the dinosaur fun day.

Yippee!!! The dinosaur fun day was so full of different fun activities. The children introduced their dinosaur names, participated in dinosaur parade, dinosaur race, and they dug and found dinosaur bones. The fun day came to an end as the little learners stomped, roared and danced to their favorite dinosaur music.

It was Lunch time, and the class gathered together to have the dinosaur lunch together. So yummy!!

The term has been an amazing one and it was wrapped up with lots of fun from the Easter egg hunt fun day. The kiddos had fun moving from one spot of fun activities to another, from baking spot to the yoga and egg rolling, to dress up, picture and craft spot, we also went hunting for eggs and we finally bounced and jumped on the bouncing castle. Really funfilled!

The week was a beautiful week with fun activities to end the term 2.

Yes, we enjoyed every beat of the term. Thi is wishing you all a wonderful Easter celebration and a restful break .

See you next term!.

Welcome Parents to our first week of term 3. In this week's learning adventure, our 3-year-olds embarked on exploring the concept of "What is a Problem?" through various engaging activities. From school walk explorations where they identified and solved small problems around the premises to magnet magic sessions where they discovered the wonders of attraction and repulsion, and finally, diving into the world of numbers by understanding the concept of six through quantification activities, our little learners have been actively engaged in hands-on learning experiences. Not to miss, we celebrated our beloved JIMI's birthday with a bang! Looking forward to the next week!

The children gathered eagerly in the classroom, excited to learn about community helpers. The teacher introduced the concept and explained the important roles that different community helpers play in our society. To make the learning fun and engaging, the children played a bingo game where they had to match pictures of community helpers with their respective professions.

After becoming familiar with various community helpers, the children were given the opportunity to role-play as different professionals. They took turns pretending to be shopkeepers, buyers, cooks, farmers, and more, acting out scenarios that showcased the duties and responsibilities of each role. It was a hands-on way for the children to understand and relate themselves to the different community helpers in their own community.

Through these activities, the children not only gained a better understanding of the various professions that exist in their community, but also developed empathy and appreciation for the hard work and dedication of these essential workers. The week of learning and role-playing was not only educational but also a fun and memorable experience for all the children involved.

Through engaging lessons, our students not only learned about different professions but also explored the pace of work of these essential community members.

To grasp the pace of work of various community helpers, the Tweenies engaged in a dynamic activity conducted entirely in French. They participated in timed tasks, such as arranging objects, sorting items, and completing puzzles. This activity not only improved their French language skills but also helped them understand the different demands of each profession.

SALE ET PROPRE:

we enjoyed exploring the French vocabulary for "dirty" and "clean" and reinforced the lesson by washing community helper tools to keep them clean.

In our literacy session, we introduced the letter sound "e" and its related vocabulary. To wrap up, we created a craft of a snail, known as "escargot."

Bonjour tout le monde!

This week in our French class, we dove into the world of opposites, exploring the concepts of "hard" and "soft." We had an engaging time learning how to express these opposites in French and sorting out various objects based on their textures.

We began by learning the French words for "hard" and "soft" – "dur" and "mou." Through fun activities and games, we practiced using these words in sentences and identifying objects around us that fit into each category.

To reinforce our understanding, we utilized different resources to quantify objects up to the number ten. From counting marbles to pencils, we applied our newfound vocabulary to describe the texture of each item as either "dur" or "mou."

As the week progressed, we culminated our learning journey with an exciting cooking session. Putting our language skills to the test, we followed recipes and described the textures of ingredients in French, reinforcing our grasp of the concepts of "hard" and "soft" in a real-world context.

Overall, it was a week filled with discovery, learning, and delicious treats! Stay tuned for more adventures in the world of French language and culture.

À bientôt,
