Reflecting on my collection of recordings, I captured a variety of elements, the fascinating nature, emotional childhood memories and sparks of imaginative play. In regards to the sensations that captured my attention in this park, I have encountered, beautiful trees, flowers, dogs, birds, lake, water fountains, and other natural features in this place. Moreover, As I walked through the park, I have listened to the sounds of birds and waterfalls, I felt the cool breeze against my skin, and watching the gentle movement of the trees. Also, I have smelled beautiful flowers. It was a fascinating experience that made me feel relaxed because I connected with nature after a long time. This experience allowed me to breathe more freely and clear my mind and I have realised that spending time in nature has a healing and powerful effect on people.

I have heard birds chirping voices while walking through the park. It remind me of my childhood because the birds voice was similar to my dad’s whistling sounds. Growing up, I often hear his whistling around the house and I spent so much time trying but I never managed to be as good as him. So after hearing the birds I found myself practicing whistling like my dad. This experience made me realise that play enables expression and communication in different ways that are impossible to convey through language alone (Roy et al., 2015).

Another example of movement that displays movement is the leaves rustling through the wind. At first, they were rustling slowly and gently However, as the wind got stronger, they got faster. The leaves were dancing with the music of wind, brushing against each other with a light rhythmic sound. I layed down on the soft grass and watched their movement, it was so graceful and I enjoyed watching them. This relates to the importance of dancing in early childhood education because through dancing children learn about their bodies and begin to develop mindfulness and self-awareness (Dance Teaching Ideas, 2020)

I encountered a bridge in this park and it gave me a great idea of an imaginative play idea. After passing that bridge you enter a new magical world and you become a fairy. In this amazing world you can fly over the trees and watch the animals and people in the park from a long distance. You can even feed the animals and make beautiful plants grow into colorful flowers because you have the ability to do magic. This experience made me feel more creative and nostalgic as I remembered my childhood memories when I was engaging in imaginative play. This imaginative play example indicates that children have the ability to make one thing to represent something else in pretend play (Wilson, 2018). This ability , which is developed through creative play is essential because children who can manipulate symbols in dramatic play are more likely to be more successful in maths, reading and writing (Wilson, 2018).

When it comes to my pedagogical practice after having this experience, I believe that imaginative play is crucial for children’s learning and development. Through imaginative play children develop a sense of competence and make discoveries about their social, cultural, and physical environments (Wilson, 2018). Moreover, children engage in more creative forms of play in natural outdoor spaces rather than the traditional playgrounds or indoor play spaces (Wilson, 2018). Providing these opportunities for children will promote their creativity curiosity and self-esteem. All in all, I am aware of the importance of music, drama and movement in education and I am planning to integrate these into my lessons in the future.

Hi everyone. This is Irem and today, I would like to talk about my visit to the Highlands Lake in Craigieburn. As I walked through the park, different sensations captured my attention. Firstly, I heard a strong breeze blew across my hair. I closed my eyes for a while and enjoyed the cool, refreshing wind on my face. It felt peaceful, like a perfect embrace of nature. Afterwards, I heard the birds chirping and the waterfountain. I sit down for a while and observed the birds fighting over food scraps near the lake and the waterfountain.

Then, I thought about the imaginative play opportunities in this place and I created a little game in my mind. There was a bridge in this park and I imagined that after passing that bridge you enter a new magical world and you become a fairy. In this amazing world you can fly over the trees and watch the animals and people in the park from a long distance. You can even feed the animals and make beautiful plants grow into colorful flowers or you can make the water fountain bigger and make it rain on the people in the park because you have the ability to do magic. Isn’t that amazing! This experience made me feel more creative and nostalgic as I remembered my childhood memories when I was engaging in imaginative play.

Another thing I remembered that made me nostalgic is the birds sounds, which is similar to my dads whistling sounds. Growing up, I often hear his whistling around the house and I spent so much time trying but I never managed to be as good as him. So after hearing the birds I found myself practicing whistling like my dad but just like when I was younger but I failed again. Spending time in nature had a relaxing and calming effect on me as I had been so stressed lately. I felt the tension leaving my body as layed down on the soft grass. I watched the clouds and try to guess what shape they are and one of them was shaped like a heart, which can be another idea of play. I also watched the leafs on trees dancing with the effect of the strong wind.
