Where did we come from? Where are we going? The eight features of civilizations include cities, organized central governments, complex religions, job specialization, social classes, arts and architecture, public works and writing. Early peoples developed unique civilizations. Several civilizations established empires with legacies influencing later peoples. Early civilizations in India, Egypt, China and Mesopotamia had unique governments, economic systems, social structures, religions, technologies and agriculture. These civilizations grew because of good geographic features. River valleys provided sources of water, habitats for plants and animals, ways of transportation, protection from invasions, and access to natural resources. The cultural practices and products of these early civilizations can be used to help understand the Eastern Hemisphere today. Ancient Egypt was a civilization of ancient Northeastern Africa, concentrated along the lower reaches of the Nile River in what is now the modern country of Egypt. It is one of six civilizations to arise independently. Egyptian civilization followed prehistoric Egyptand coalesced around 3150 BC (according to conventional Egyptian chronology) with the political unification of Upper and Lower Egypt under the first pharaoh Narmer (commonly referred to as Menes). The history of ancient Egypt occurred in a series of stable Kingdoms, separated by periods of relative instability known as Intermediate Periods: the Old Kingdom of the Early Bronze Age, the Middle Kingdom of the Middle Bronze Age and the New Kingdom of the Late Bronze Age.


Egypt reached the pinnacle of its power in the New Kingdom, during the Ramesside period, where it rivalled the Hittite Empire,Assyrian Empire and Mitanni Empire, after which it entered a period of slow decline. Egypt was invaded or conquered by a succession of foreign powers, such as the Canaanites/Hyksos, Libyans, the Nubians, the Assyrians, Babylonians, theAchaemenid Persians, and the Macedonians in the Third Intermediate Period and the Late Period of Egypt. In the aftermath ofAlexander the Great's death, one of his generals, Ptolemy Soter, established himself as the new ruler of Egypt. This GreekPtolemaic Kingdom ruled Egypt until 30 BC, when, under Cleopatra, it fell to the Roman Empire and became a Roman province.

Nil River: is the longer  river of the world, it is born at Burundi and it goes over runs through many countries before emptying the Mediterranean Sea.

God RA: Ra  was the primary name of the sun god of Ancient Egypt. He was often considered to be the King of the Gods and thus the patron of the pharaoh and one of the central gods of the Egyptian pantheon.

Pharaoh: The Pharaoh in ancient Egypt was the political and religious leader of the people and held the titles 'Lord of the Two Lands’ and 'High Priest of Every Temple.

Hiroglyph: Is a character of the ancient Egyptian writing system. Logographic scripts that are pictographic in form in a way reminiscent of ancient Egyptian are also sometimes called hieroglyphs. In Neoplatonism, especially during the Renaissance, a hieroglyph was an artistic representation of an esoteric idea.

Of course, it was shielded and sustained by its unique geography, buffered by hostile deserts on both sides and fed by an annual river cycle that watered and fertilized its fields. More than that, the contrast between chaotic wastelands and orderly, cyclical harvests maintained by careful conservation of resources promoted a sustainability mindset.

The Egyptians had a symbol that represented what mattered to them most: the Djed pillar (right). Translated, it means "Stability."
