This pre-recorded session will feature Dr. Tess Caswell, a geologist and engineer from NASA, who will explore what it truly means to live, work, and survive in space.

What’s in it for students?

- A chance to submit questions in advance to Tess for an exclusive Q&A
- An engaging way to strengthen their understanding of STEM and space careers

We are working with the team at Discover! Creative Careers to inspire 11-18 year olds to explore creative industry careers in Hampshire. We want to encourage more schools to register to take part in Discover! Creative Careers Month in November. All events are free to access  and give your young people the opportunity to take part in a workplace visit, talk or careers workshop, or to attend an online event or access resources.

This runs Tuesday 28^th October to Thursday 30^th October.

3 days of work experience taking a deep dive into their business function, focusing on project management, supply chain, data analysis and more.

There will also be opportunity to hear from senior leaders, as well as network with current apprentices & graduates.

Welcome back to school and college. I hope you had a well-deserved break and found time for rest and reflection.

As we begin the new academic year, we’re entering a period of exciting change for careers education. The Department for Education has now published updated statutory guidance and a refreshed set of Gatsby Benchmarks, which will come into effect from September 2025. These changes aim to strengthen the quality and consistency of careers provision across all settings.

We’re expecting access to the updated Compass+ questions this week and will share them with you as soon as they’re available . Please note: your first Compass return under the new framework will not be required until after October half term.

To support you through these changes, the Hampshire Careers Hub will be running a series of briefing and support sessions to help you understand the updates and how to meet the new expectations (dates and times to follow). Your Enterprise Coordinator will also be on hand to provide tailored support and guidance.

We know there’s been a lot of discussion around the two-week work experience guarantee. While this remains a national ambition, it is not a statutory requirement for this academic year. We encourage you to build on the great work you’re already doing; small, strategic adaptations can make a big difference. Your Enterprise Coordinator can help you audit your current offer and identify opportunities to enhance it.
