<title> The story of David and Goliath and the conflict between the United States and Britain following the American Revolutionary War are similar because both include an underdog and a group of people who have an advantage. The tale of David and Goliath is from the Bible, and tells the story of a young shepard named David and a giant named Goliath. Goliath was from a group of people that was trying to take the Israelite&#39;s land. The two groups were trying to settle who got the land, and decided to send two men out to fight each other, and the winner would get the land. David, a Israelite, was chosen to fight Goliath. Goliath was offended that he was facing such a lowly man instead of a seasoned warrior. David, with no weapons other than his stones and slingshot, took Goliath&#39;s protesting as a chance to shoot one of his stones at the giant man. The stone hit Goliath straight in the forehead, knocking him to the ground where David decapitated him with the giants own sword. The Palestinians ran from the battle sight, horrified that their great warrior had been killed so easily. Whether you believe that Goliath had a crippling disease that decreasing his ability to see and move or that David had the power of a god behind him, the story of David and Goliath is an inspiring story that proves that sometimes the underdogs really can win. The American Revolutionary War was a battle that no one expected the Continental Army to prevail in. The British Army was the most feared in the world at the time, and the Patriots were unknown and weaker. The British were confident that they would win against the Patriots easily, swatting them back into their places like bugs. They also thought that after the Patriots conceded, the rest of the angry people in America would give up or stop fighting the tyranny of the British control. But the Patriots surprised everyone else in the world by staying strong and standing up for what they wanted. The rebels knew starting the war that the odds were against them, but that didn&#39;t stop them from at least trying to make a difference. They had less weapons, money, and soldiers. But they had a lot of support and reason to go into battle; for their children to grow up in a country that was free from Britain&#39;s taxes, abusive soldiers, and the right to speak your mind. Both sides in each situation had a reason they wanted to win. In Goliath&#39;s case, he wanted to help his people gain more land. With David, he wanted to protect his land and prove himself. The British wanted to keep control over the colonies, as it would be both extremely embarrassing and a huge loss of pride, land, and resources. The Patriots wanted freedom. They wanted to be able to determine their own rules, and on top of that they would be killed if they failed, similar to David and Goliath.</title>
