The AP Research Presentation and Oral Defense was a 7/10. I enjoyed presenting the final product of my research with my peers, teachers and principal but it was never-wracking to speak in front of everyone in under just 20 minutes. Something I would have done differently, is to approach my oral defense questions with specific examples and refer to scholarly articles that I used in my research. This is because, it would provide evidence and reasoning to my responses to the questions asked. Something I wouldn't change at all is the design and layout of the presentation. This is because it was very appealing and easy to follow. The most helpful feedback or question that I received during the preparation for my presentation and oral defense was when I was asked personally how I think AI has affected education by Assistant Principal Ms. Smith, during the Gallery Walk. The Gallery Walk acted as a practice run for the POD. The best part of the experience was getting to share my research, the worst part was talking. This is because I loved sharing my research, but sometimes I felt like a broken record. It's hard to tell whether someone truly understand what I am talking about. I wouldn't do this again because I believe the past should stay in the past. You learn from your mistakes and move on. My advice for you for next year's AP Research students is to provide strict, non-negotiable deadlines for sections of the research paper. This holds us accountable.

For my AP Research Presentation and Oral Defense, I would rate it an 8/10 because, during my presentation, my environment wasn’t as intense as usual, aka it was only me there. Also, I felt prepared and confident about my slides. Next time, I will practice my presentation more. I stumbled on my words, and sometimes, I forgot what I would say, so I had to look at my slides. Next time, I would keep my slides' format; I felt it was organized and easy to read. Additionally, the slides looked professional, which is something that I don’t tend to do, but in this situation, it had to look professional. The most helpful question during my oral defense would be, “What was the most important research skill you developed due to this process, and how might you apply it to your future endeavors?” I believe this question was my best answer and wrapped up my presentation nicely because it made me include why I want to do this study and the importance of it. The best part was finishing my presentation. I felt relieved that AP Research was over, and the worst part was the oral defense; I didn’t think I was prepared enough, and I took too long to answer. Next time, or if I could return, I would prepare for it better. I would research again if I had more time because the people and environment were fun overall, and I learned a lot. Advice for next year’s AP Research students is not to procrastinate; this class, while fun, is really hard and will make you rethink life. I think you overlooked a question in the oral defense: "How did the limitations of your method or data influence your new understanding?” My limitation for this study was that I had so many that influenced my data. For instance, due to time constraints, I only had a sample size of 30 and only 30 participants, potentially insufficient to identify the relationship between BMI and body image. Overall, the AP Research journey was great, and I look forward to applying the skills and lessons learned to my future endeavors.
