Sketchbook growth

This collage shows what I have learned and worked on in quarter 1. In my top left drawing, I drew watches and shaded in the corners but smudging, but I learned not to do that because it makes the piece cleaner. I also developed SMART goals, the SMART goal in the top right shows how I used to trace objects.

Still life composition

In our still life sketches we learned not to shade with our fingers because it makes the page oily, drawing in different angles and lines, and overlapping sketches. The item I borrowed was a bubble machine because I joined the class late. I mainly focused on the bubble machine in the piece. I don't believe I was here for this so I did one of my practice sketch from the still life project.

My object was the bubble machine. A technique I applied was shading then erasing a spot to add a highlight because it shows were light was reflecting from, I also overlapped items. I learned to put more values into the shading. Critiques I received were to add a background and shade more, growths was the value of the art and shading. I revised my work by adding darker shading and a background.

Since I joined when classmates brought their still life item in I was unable to watch a video and go over the different types of lines. But, I learned how to properly shade without a shading stick and not to trace items onto the paper for a more personal look. I think the class is fun and creative so far. My goals for quarter 2 are to draw with more detail.
