La Tomatina (also translated as the Battle of Western Red Persimmons [1]) is a festival held in the last Wednesday of August every year in the Autonomous Region of Valencia, Spain [2]. Tens of thousands of participants came from all over the world to participate in a non-harmful scuffle, throwing more than 100 tons of ripe and juicy tomatoes on the street [2]. The Tomato War originated in 1945. After 70 years of development, it has become a solid tradition and urban feature of Buñol Town [2].




About 30,000 people participated in the Tomatoes War, several times the normal population of Bouneol 9,000. Due to the limited accommodation conditions in Buñol, many participants live in Valencia and take a car or train to the town of Buñol, 38 kilometers from Valencia. The shops on both sides of the street closed their doors and windows tightly before the Tomato War and covered them with plastic cloth to avoid getting dirty during the war.
