Arab Spring

In 2011 successful uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia took out the presidents of both countries. This gave hope to the pro democracy protesters living in Syria.

Not long after this 15 boys were caught and tortured for graffitiing on a wall, one of them was killed shortly after the torturing, he was 13. This sent up a horde of peaceful protesters but as an example the president killed 100s and imprisoned many more. This brought out the military and then Syria started to slide into civil war. The government had been unstable for a while and finally with news of other countries successes the Syrian people snapped.

The real question should be how has the problem not affected the people?

This war has affected the people of Syria greatly, Forcing them to evacuate and leave the country where many of the citizens have never dreamed of leaving. Most people, according to World Bank, an astonishing 73.25% have never left the country of Syria. However the war has not just forced Syrians to evacuate but it has also torn families apart. Houses get bombed schools get bombed hospitals get bombed. This is a huge importance because bombing hospitals is a War Crime. This has been also taking a toll on ISIS and the president of Syria because they to lose soldiers. As well as tearing both the country and families apart this war has taken 350,000 lives from adults and children both women and men. This war has taken a great toll on children, they are targeted the most. In the year of 2017 the amount of children killed and the amount of schools bombed has increased by 50%. Syrian children often are left alone to cope in the streets once their parents are executed or shot or killed by shells or shrapnel or run over by tanks.

The rest of the world should be worried about this issue because the rest of the world is where Syrian refugees are going, about 1 million and about 12 million are spread out through the middle east. In the graph below it is a more broad description of the amount of refugees in each country.

As well as sending up flocks of refugees to different countries the war has also shown that many different countries have been scrambling to take sides, the war is not just a civil war, or not anymore. countries have joined in taking sides but all of them have a reason for their national gain. Basically the war is broken down into a simple photo where it is one side (the regime and government) versus the Army of Islam and the free Syrian army.

Think about your family. You love them right. Now imagine a world in which you grew up with your mom and your dad and your siblings and then imagine that they were taken away. No chance to say goodbye and an unbelievably little chance to see them again . This may be hard to imagine because family is something that you are so used to and so familiar with that you can't really imagine a world without. For many refugee families this was hard to imagine to. They thought that they would love and be with their family till the very end. But this is not the case, many many refugee families are being split up and forced to either die or live a life not worth living. One without your brothers and sisters and mother and father. My name is Ahmed and this recently happened to me, my beloved father was slowly him knifed until he bled out on the dirt in front of me, my mother, my sister, and my brother. The man then grabbed my mother and took to using her. I snapped after seeing this as this is something you don't do, we say it every day in school what is good about life and what is a sin and something under no circumstances we should do. I proceded to tackle the smug looking man but i was weak with hunger as i had not eaten in days. He fell over nonetheless and shot a stray bullet that found it's way to a target. My mother eyes wide with fear tried to smile but she couldn't as she had a bullet lodged in between her ear and mouth. Her eye managed to cry one single tear and then she fell. Lifeless. The man then grabbed my two sibling's he stabbed one , my brother, and ran away with my sister and that was the last i ever saw of my family.
