Code Week family by Nair Carrera Martinez

As we wrap up our collective journey on this wonderful project, it's with mixed emotions that we say goodbye to this chapter and embrace new directions.
Code Week will be taking a different course in the next months, and while we won't be working together on it anymore, we believe the memories and experiences we've shared will always be cherished.
Before we go our separate paths, we would like to take a moment and reflect on what Code Week means to you personally. To do that, we would kindly ask you to reply to the following questions, mentioning in your message your name, your role in the initiative and how long you have been contributing to this wonderful initiative.
1.	What does Code Week mean to you?
2.	What is your best moments or memory you've had as part of the Code Week family? Whether it was a successful event, an inspiring workshop, etc. each of these moments has contributed to enrich our time together.
3.	As we say ‘ adieu’ to this phase of our journey, we'd like to express our gratitude and nice wishes to Tommaso and the team at European Schoolnet: Konstantinos, Eugenia, Eirini, Arjana...but also Adri, Eleni, Beatrice, Maha, Nair and many others who diligently helped to manage the initiative on behalf of the European Commission since 2018. Last thank you note go also to Annika and Jakub, as well as to Stephanie, Ioannis, Denisa and other colleagues: thank you all for your time, dedication, positive energy, effort, and everlasting smiles for the past 9 years.
Please do share a few words or a video message to show your appreciation for their dedication and hard work.
Last but not least, many thanks to each and every leading teacher, ambassador or edu coordinator, student, parent, industry partner or other, for your commitment and collaboration throughout this journey. You made this dream a reality.

I would like to express my deep gratitude for the invaluable experience I have had being part of Code Week throughout these years. For me, Code Week has meant collaboration, friendship, community, and learning. It has been a journey that has opened new opportunities and enriched my work in ways I never imagined.

Among many highlights, I will always cherish my time at the Code Week Summer School in Brussels. I had the chance to meet the team behind Code Week, as well as many Leading Teachers. I immensely enjoyed working and spending time together, creating a bond that will last forever in my memory.

I want to extend my sincerest thanks to the entire Code Week team, especially to Tommaso, Konstantinos, Nair, and Annika, with whom I had the privilege to meet and work closely. I will never forget the beautiful summer school we had in 2019. They are all like friends to me and on international conferences we always meet up and share thoughts and ideas.

A heartful thanks to the entire Code Week community for the amazing journey we did together. I loved every minute of working with you! There are so many memorable moments that I really can't chose.

I think meeting so many energetic, creative, enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer teachers, ambassadors and other coding enthusiasts has been fantastic.

Also all the creativity that has gone into our community meetings, kick-offs, events, summer schools, pandemic webinars, podcasts, code hunts, coding games, coding and tinkering lessons, outreach activities, the hackathons and the millions and millions and millions of events that you all have made happened is amazing.

I am also very happy that the community inspired me to run a coding club for a few years. I have heard that one of the kids is now studying computer science!

I wish the Schoolnet team, Code Week and all volunteers all the best. The foundation for Code Week has changed before and I am certain that the new path will bring new insights and ideas that will grow the movement even stronger.

You will always stay very close to my heart!

Stay in touch!

Cheers

Annika

Code Week is unique and special. It's powered by the enthusiasm and energy from thousands of volunteers who every day strive to push the boundaries and help more & more people to discover the power of code. I have hundreds of unforgettable memories from my Code Week journey. But one stands out. It's our Code Week dances in front of the European Commission's headquarters. We did it once with dozens of people in white t-shirts and then for the second time just the 4 of us in orange. This dance shows the essence of Code Week - it brings fresh air and innovation to the very rigid worlds of education and politics. Thank you very much for those great years and I wish to Code Week to continue bringing ideas to life.

Jakub

Since 2015, European Schoolnet team, guided by Tommaso's relentless commitment, have contributed to the steep growth of EU Code Week, which led to the engagement in 2021 of 4 million participants taking part in more than 78.000 activities in 80+ countries.

I couldn't be happier to have been part of this initiative and to have contributed my bit to making coding accessible to people. Probably the greatest learning experience I've had so far, both personally and professionally.

Thank you, Tommaso, for guiding us with your creativity, constant support, and energy during the endless days of work at the office, which have brought you so far.

Thank you for laying the foundations of the initiative.

I'm going to write a few lines about what participating in Code Week has been like for me. Five years ago I found out about this initiative and I was lucky enough to participate in the Code Week School Pilot, a course that, honestly, changed my life. In that wonderful week I had the opportunity to meet great people and learn in the Future Classroom Lab, which helped me change my perspective as a teacher and start the project in my organization. In the summer of 2019 we created the first Future Classroom Lab in my city, and currently we have 114 FCL in my region, Extremadura, in Spain. All this is thanks to that training in which Naír, Tommaso, Konstantinos, Annika and the rest of the members of the European Schoolnet transmitted to us their enthusiasm for improving education through robotics and computational thinking. Even if the future temporarily separates you from this project, you should be proud of the work done and confident that we will continue your legacy.
