    1. There has been a 3 million increase in immigrants from 2000 to 2017. The emigrant stock has also been increasing since 1990, but in recent years, not enough to offset immigration to any significant degree. There has been an overall increase recently in migration in South Africa.

    2. Illegal migration and immigration has also increased and as a results more deportation has been necessary with Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Lesotho making up 88% of the deportations

    3. The majority of emigrants are white whilst the majority of immigrants into South Africa are not white.
