They are finally starting to actually get to know each other. This is important because Cyra is choosing to break the stereo type of her people and proving that you are your own person and not your parents or the rest of your family. It compares the book to the author's other books Divergent as well as the ever popular Star Wars which I thought was very clever. I also agree that in this book it was easy to sympathize with the characters but hard to empathize with them. It seemed like there was a little bit more detail towards the setting than the characters.
