So far I have not encountered any bullying issues when it comes to being undocumented. The totally opposite, other students are empathetic, and try to find solutions to help these students. H.M.

I try my best to use appropriate word-choice and discussion questions when it comes to a sensitive topic of Immigration and migration status. It is about being comfortable and sensitive towards others' feelings as we are all descendants of immigrants or immigrants ourselves. I try to build students up to open up the floor for raw truth and honesty without placing boundaries on the social injustices that are related to such a movement.

Perhaps we can learn to not be so judgmental and more welcoming, with compassion, and kindsness

Protocols that I would take as an educator to avoid bullying in my classroom against undocumented and immigrant students would be to talk with the students experiencing bullying, talk to the bully and address the issue with school counselors and admin. I would like to actually conduct a lesson (possibly socratic seminar) to have students voice their opinions on why it is important to learn about each others backgrounds and to be more compassionate and mindful with what we say and how we say things, because we don't know who we can be offending.

Most of us have experienced any bullying inside of our classrooms. Other students and school personnel have been supportive with incoming students.

If we were to experience this, we would choose my words carefully when class is sharing out about their experiences. We should also be culturally sensitive.

One of us was the exception. The sixth grade class bullied the student. She had 1-1 convo with each one and class as a whole regarding feelings, bulling and making mean comments to each other.
