Books are popular, known stories (Fancy Nancy, Goosebumps, Flat Stanley, etc). Students would be able to engage in the same stories that their peers are, participate in book talks, literacy circles, etc. since they're able to focus on understanding the story vs trying to decode the story,

Link: https://flipgrid.com/
Description: I added flipgrid because my high school student uses it and it's changed how she views some of her classes. The teacher can post a question/topic and the student's respond in video (90 seconds), engaging in discussion back and forth.
Guidelines and Checkpoints: 3.2, 5.1, 7.2
As I mentioned above, my daughter is excited to do homework now, and puts a lot of thought into what she's going to say in her 90 second video, especially if it's on something she loves, like history. That limited time also helps kids narrow down big ideas. For many kids today, social learning optimizes relevance, value, and authenticity. It really appreciates their interests and skills. It also offers multiple media for communication instead of just writing.
Addresses learner variability: Students who have difficulty articulating thoughts in paper would benefit greatly from Flipgrid. This would certainly be an option for students. Some students might be uncomfortable videoing themselves.

It's also repositionable.
Guidelines and Checkpoints: 1.1, 2.1, 3.3
Highlighter tape and highlighters can be a useful tool to help readers remember key words. The use of highlighters could be used to point out words that are vocabulary words or critical words that students should know or are struggling to pronounce or remember. Highlighting tools are also a great way to introduce the idea of annotating texts in order to help with a student's comprehension level.
Addresses learner variability: Highlighting tape is a great tool to reduce distractions and remove distractions that are not essential to the goal. I'd encourage students to use this to isolate challenging words in text or on posters, for word/letter hunts in the classroom.
