         <title>The Hunger Games</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Date Oct 6, 2018<br>Age 12+<br><br>Set in post apocalyptic times, the country is divided into 12 different areas. Every year they bring 1 teenage male and female from each area to compete is the Hunger Games. Katniss Everdeen, takes the place of her younger sister by volunteering to compete when Prims name is called.<br>This starts her journey to try and become the winner, the male name from her area is Peta.&nbsp; They eventually work together to help one another advance throughout the early stages of the games.<br>Peta eventually tells of his love for Katniss, and the two form an alliance though after the games there should be only one survivor. As the games go on the combatants kill of one another in many different fantastic ways, all the while the government is making sure that the Games progress and are successful.<br><br>Teaching Point: Advice can come from anyone, good or bad but its what you do with the advice that matters the most.</div>]]></description>

Amos Decker another former college football player but now a member FBI task force, is now investigating the case. Twist and turns happen throughout the book, while Decker and Mars actually start to become friends. A large conspiracy is uncovered ruining through local and state government officials.<br><br>Teaching Point : Never give up, if you are innocent fight to prove it<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Date - Aug 29, 2018<br>Age - 15+<br><br>4 friends in over their heads in law school, deep in debt and no future in front of them. When one takes his life it leaves the other 3 wondering whats next, what should we do. They end up practicing law illegally for cash setting up a fake law firm and handling small cases like DUI's.&nbsp; As people begin to suspect their false firm, they get deeper and deeper into trouble.&nbsp; When they take on a personal injury case that's when the firm starts to fall apart due to lack of knowledge to the legal system.&nbsp; There are twist and turns as three try to work there way out of a seriously deep hole. &nbsp;<br><br>Teaching point:&nbsp; You can only fake it to people who know nothing about what you are faking.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Date - Sept 24, 2018<br>Age 13+<br><br>Set in the future people are broken up into 5 factions based on a character assessment. Each person picks the group they want to join on their 16th birthday, and this Tris(Beatrice) journey through her choice of the faction known as Dauntless.&nbsp; The thing is she is actually assessed divergent a group the in not accepted by the 5 other factions. The world works in this order for awhile until one of the factions Erudite decides it wants to be in total control and over throw Abnegation the current government leaders.&nbsp;<br><br>Teaching point: We make our own future, even when people are pulling us in different directions</div>]]></description>

         <title>Sphere</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Sept 1, 2018<br>Age 15+<br><br>Deep on the ocean floor a spacecraft is found. Researchers are sent in to explore and find out more about the craft. They end up finding a sphere, with no clear way to enter it. The as one of the crew enters the sphere, you eventually start to see a change in him mentally. The sphere also starts interacting with the crew and it is not nice at all. Strange occurrences happen to the crew members and to the craft itself.&nbsp; In the end only one thing can happen to save the day as everyone has all but died and the sphere turning everyone against one another.<br><br>Teaching point:  Working together in a group can be a great thing but you need to trust and stay true to the group.</div>]]></description>

At the same time he starts his own law practice when the firm he was hired for comes under investigation. The insurance company doing all in its power to not pay on a leukemia claim, even though all premiums paid and everything was in good standing on the Dot Blacks end, the mother of the leukemia sufferer.<br><br>Teaching point: Hard work pays off, but even though you may win you may not get the reward you were hoping for<br> </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Aug 15, 2018<br>Age 10+<br><br>Harry is a young boy with a great past he knows nothing about. His parents were wizards and helped defeat Lord Voldermort. It is now time for Harry to take after his true calling and to also learn to become a wizard. Harry ventures to Hiogwarts the school for wizards and starts to study the craft. He has usual issue with bullies and class struggles with professors but he takes it all in stride making friends along the way. In the end you find out that something maybe coming for young Harry, but we will have to wait and see.<br><br>Teaching point: It doesn't matter how many friends you have , as long as those you call friends you can trust</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Aug 18, 2018<br>Age 12+<br><br>Its year two at Hogwarts for Harry and his crew of wizardly friends. This year he has a new friends a Dobby an elf, who creates all kinds of mischief for Harry to also deal.  Harry finds out he can speak snake language which scares many due to it not being common, and typically done by evil wizards.  Harry struggles with his nemesis Malfoy, wins a quidditch match, and becomes suspected of cause harm.  Harry meets Tom Riddle who ends up later being found out as Voldermort.  He battles a large snake or basilisk that has been causing all the trouble around Hogwarts killing it buy stabbing it with a sword sent by Professor Dumbledore.  Harry saves the day again but more trouble is coming.<br><br>Teaching point: Practice makes perfect is the saying, but truthfully it takes time and effort for improvement</div>]]></description>

I saw it on the shelf and was instantly drawn to the old rhyme I said a bunch of times as child. I quickly found out I never knew the correct line for it is to Grandfather's house not Grandmother's house as I always use to say. It is written in old English and difficult to read, but slow and steady works.<br><br>Teaching point:&nbsp; The best thing for this book would be showing how the language has changed over time, with this poem coming from 1844</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Date - Sept 9, 2018<br>Age 5-12<br><br>This is the story of Anna Comstock and how she became known as "the Mother Nature of Education."&nbsp; It was a neat book, and finding out about someone I never knew of.&nbsp; Mrs. Comstock changed how teachers taught using outdoor activities, art, and investigation.&nbsp; Learning of someones love for something is always great .<br><br>Teaching point:&nbsp; This book gives great detail about nature through one persons eyes, you can ask the students to try looking a nature differently through their eyes.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Date - Sept 9, 2018<br>Age 5 - 17<br><br>This was a very cool book.&nbsp; I love astronomy, and this book showed how the stars in the sky at night make different astrological signs/shapes.&nbsp; My oldest daughter and I actually spent a good hour looking for the different ones we could find.&nbsp; The story of the children looking for the different signs is simple but does give the reader something to read.<br>We looked for Taurus, Unicorn, and the fish known as Pisces<br><br>Teaching point:&nbsp; It teaches what those stars are thought to be when shaped together. &nbsp;</div>]]></description>

It also tells of gravity preventing from drifting away because the pull gravity actually has. &nbsp; There is a section in the back explaining that gravity is attractive, and how to use and measure it on a simple scale.<br><br>Teaching Point:&nbsp; This is book lets kids know why things fall and at the same time stay in the same place.&nbsp; Easy thing to teach would be showing what goes up must come down.</div>]]></description>

Easily can show how even though they are all birds, they are all different kind of like people.</div>]]></description>

It talks of otters learning to swim, prairie dogs learning to shout, and even penguins giving singing lessons. The art in the book was very colorful and well drawn, also learning a little more about animals that I technically was not aware of, terminology mainly was cool.<br><br>Teaching point:&nbsp; Teaching students about animals and what they do in nature is always a good thing.&nbsp; Showing them animals as parents, just like they have parents also helps them possibly draw the conclusion that everyone and everything needs some guidance.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Date - Sept 9, 2018<br>Age 3-8<br><br>A very simple book about different types of babies mainly animals, and the things they do or get into.&nbsp; The end of the book tells the different name for baby animals like a deer is called a fawn, a rabbit is a kitten, a leopard is a cub.&nbsp; In the end the main thing told by the story is no matter what or where the baby is getting into is mama knows where always knows where they are.<br><br>Teaching point:&nbsp; The main thing taught in this book is that baby animals are playful, but they are also called something different than their adult counterpart. &nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Date Sept 9, 2018<br>Age 5-12<br><br>This a parody of the the Night Before Christmas, but in pirates speak.&nbsp; It rhymes and tells the story of a mean looking driver of a sleigh being pulled by eight giant seahorses.&nbsp; It follows the story but in all pirate lore, it was fun to read and so much more.&nbsp; The terms are taught through out the book, look at me rhyming now it cant be shook. &nbsp;<br><br>Teaching lesson: The pirates vocabulary is very descriptive in this book, but it really shows how you can take a story and make something your own.</div>]]></description>

How the city has grown over the years, and the things in and around the city. Fun fact from the book at the time it was written over 1,600 places serve pizza in the city. It tells of Central Park, the tall buildings, the subway, the Museum of Natural History, the Intrepid Museum. Its a very basic but very descriptive book about an amazing city, the city that never sleeps.<br><br>Teaching Point: There are lots of facts in the book about all the places and things to do in the city. It can make students think about New York City or maybe have them appreciate their own city where they live more.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Date - Sept 9, 2018&nbsp;<br>Age 8-15<br><br>This is a book about the life of Frank Sinatra.&nbsp; I grew listening to him, because he was from New Jersey and my parents loved him.&nbsp; This story tells of how he was always singing from the time of little boy.&nbsp; He was drawn to singing, he was raised differently by his mom also causing him to develop his suit and tie style at a very young age.&nbsp; &nbsp; His favorite singer was Bing Crosby and he emulated him in all things he did.&nbsp; As he grew older Frank went to New York to work on his craft and become one of the greatest singers of all time.&nbsp;<br><br>Teaching Point:  This story tells of both hard work and dedication but also listening to oneself in finding a passion. I am originally from New Jersey and have always been fascinated by Edison.&nbsp; This book tells of his story as a young boy through adulthood and his quest to invent things, make things better, and make things safer.&nbsp; It tells of him burning down his parents barn and how it always affected him.&nbsp; This ties to making a better, safer, more practical light bulb.<br><br>Teaching point:&nbsp; The life of Edison is a fascinating tale and lots can be learned from it and him.&nbsp; The best thing about Edison is that for all the times he failed he never gave up trying and learning.<br><br></div>]]></description>
