While we like to imagine that all students have picture perfect lives, that isn't the case. Our students are at some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Depending on their home situation, students may experience homelessness.

As a teacher, it can be overwhelming. Although you might see a note stating that the student is homeless, that might be all of the information you are given. This padlet can provide supports on what to do next.

Teacher supports provide options for what you can do in your classroom to best support a student, written from teachers for teachers. Government resources covers options in Michigan and beyond, providing legal information, emergency resources, and national podcasts. District specific resources give a contact for each district and additional information to use to help your own students. Lastly, higher education provides links to the most common public universities in Michigan, and their different scholarship options, to make sure that all students know the future is open to them.

Lastly, you will see the shareables. This includes a distributable flyer and a customizable template to ensure that all building staff can assist any student in need.
