How had this course influenced your understanding of EBP?

This course helped improve my understanding of EBP by educating me on the importance and different levels of evidence with level 1, 2, and 3 being the best for research opportunities. Also helping to understand RCT (randomized controlled trials) and their importance as well as the differenty types of validity.

How has your understanding of EBP evolved through the course?

Before this course, I believed that peer-reviewed articles were recommended and now I understand that the types of study conducted and whether the study was approved or not is important when conducting thorough research.

Share any personal experiences or case studies discussed in class that have influenced your view on EBP.

In my EBP IPE group, we had to rewrite our PICO question to benefit our research accordingly. Before understanding about the importance of creating a PICO question when conducting research, it was important to understand that even a good question may not be good enough for the guidelines of EBP and it is important to ensure that we are validating our research topics to approach what we intend to study.

How do you envision applying EBP in your future professional practice?

I envision that if I decide to pursue my doctoral degree, I can implement EBP to conduct research methods for effective and continuing practice methods appropriate for occupational therapy.

Understanding inter-rater and intra-rater reliability when conducting occupational therapy based assessments is important when applying methods to patients because it will help you decide the best method of treatment for your patients instead of picking anything that you believe will help them.
