What I Learned About Methods of Planning for Crisis Prevention and Intervention.

Crisis prevention and intervention are a critical part of the education system. Bad things are going to happen. Whether it be a death of a student or teacher; or something we seem to see too much of school shootings. To be prepared is the best tool to help everyone who is affected by such tragedies.

The role of the school counselor is focal point of a school system's plan for prevention and intervention. He/she will take the lead in coordinating the plan while involving the administrators and selected faculty. The plan will have some sort of mindset of "expect the unexpected." While this seems like it may take the joy out of the learning process, it can be accomplished in a way where all involved will be successful.
