This is when you add to something or supplement it. Augmentative communication can make the message clearer to your listener by adding things like sign language, pictures, a letter board, etc.

The second "A" in AAC stands for Alternative communication. This is when you are not able to speak, and your speech is not understood by others. Therefore, you need a different way to communicate than most.

AAC can be used to help anyone communicate who can't rely on speech. This can be for a variety of reasons!

The AAC device would allow for the student to communicate with their teacher, peers, and other staff members in a way that they feel heard! It would give them a voice! The accessibility and ease of the device is one of the greatest things about the Proloquo. The device will allow for the student to have a voice in all parts of the day with little prep required! 

Use of such program/device would be written in student's IEP, and using the iPad and app would just be a part of their school day!
