         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum is a group of folded membranes located in the cytoplasm of the cell. The Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum is found in both plant and animal cells. The reason that is is "Rough" is because it has ribosomes along the outside of it, which are small spheres that sit on the outside.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The main purpose of the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum is to help produce the proteins that the cell needs to function. The ribosomes on the outside of the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum produce proteins which the cell in turn uses to produce energy.&nbsp;The rough ER also helps in protein folding, giving proteins their shape and function, and also transports new proteins around the cell as well.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The main difference between the two ERs is that the Rough ER has ribosomes and the Smooth ER does not. This in turn causes the Rough ER to help in protein production and the Smooth ER helps in protein synthesis.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Like I have said, the Rough ER is a series of folded bodies over each other. It is "rough" due to the ribosomes that are on it, along with some parts of it being engorged. The Rough ER sometimes retains some of the proteins that it produces if they are faulty or misshapen. These retained proteins can cause blockages in the productions of protein causing that area to be engorged.</div>]]></description>

         <title>What problems are there with my Organelle</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One problem is one I have already mentioned which is when proteins malfunction and get stuck in the Rough ER, causing blockages that can reduce the production of the Rough ER. Another problem is that if the Rough ER, malfunctions, the entire cell can die because protein production will be faulty. Lastly, research has shown that prolonged stress of the rough ER can lead to diseases such as cancer, type 2 diabetes, and liver stress.</div>]]></description>
