Thick then thin, helped by the higher register of the strings.
Then only strings playing at piano with a thin oboe then flute melodic line. Homophonic at this point.
Rising strings allows for the bottom register to be filled out by the brass.
Silences separate the different sections. The trend is silence, thin then thick.
The piccolo hangs over top (thin) and then the timpani enters with brass to fill out the texture until thick. Homophonic.

The high register of the strings, piccolo and flute are airy, creating a sparse atmosphere.
The strings can also be warm and lulling as accompaniment when piano.
