The american goverment made the system process impossible to win. most landowners hired lawyers to represent them in court. however, some trials lasted up to twenty years. many landowners went bankrupt in turn, they sold their land, desperately paying off their legal woes.

Ultimately the Mexican landowners lost mostly all of their property in the US. Anglos were very in demand of it because of the gold rush they had discovered back then. Often the court system, the process and legality of it would leave landowners bankrupt, them having to sell their land anyway. Whether all of it or parts just for legal fees. I think this connects to White supremacy, because the system is not equal and not on the Mexicans side. You needed to be rich to even fight for the land. And you had to go to court for rules/a treaty that were supposed to be respected in the first place. This was in order to have the whites get even richer.

the main idea of source 4 is that most of all the problems that were goin on in California that were ignored there was a law called the fugitive slave law that was in place at the time which meant black people were arrested and hunted by bounty hunters i believe this is connected to white supremacy because slaves had to run away to get a better life and they were later arrested and there was this big trail held for this slave that was arrested for it and people Faught for it it some what worked by forbade slavery but denied black people many civil rights

I believe the main idea of source 4 revolves around white supremacy, and a little settler colonialism. The sources has information about the Archy Lee case which took place in California in 1858, Lee was an slave brought into California by his slave owner Charles Stovall Lee managed to escape captivity and came into contact with an "prominent African American activist" he would relocate in Sacramento. After an while he was arrested. But an instead of an close cut case like from most African Americans at the time, An legal battle would ensue. It would gain quite the attraction from both parties both anti slave and pro slaves would clash, eventually Stovall tried to kidnap Lee and sail him out of the United states via boat. A large masse would stop the kidnapping from ensuing. Afterwards Lee was declared an free man. This would lead up to an massive debate about slavery in the state making it pro or anti.
