Claire Miller
I enjoyed watching both these videos. The one on math was something we had watched before, and I'm glad we got to watch it again because it is such a great example of one way technology can be used in the classroom. The teacher in the video talked about how he uses the iPods and computer games to reinforce the concepts he teaches his students. They get extra practice and instant feedback from the apps and programs they use so they know when they've mastered a skill. Having his students play these games gives the teacher time to work with students that need more of his help and attention. I love watching this video because I think the way the teacher incorporated technology into math lessons is awesome and it gives me ideas on how to do that for my future classroom. The second video was on a variety of technologies, most of which we have covered throughout the course. My favorite part of the video was toward the end. The teacher that worked with autistic children and other special needs children explained the Go Talk 9+. In my high school Child Development class my teacher brought in her autistic son and showed us some of the tools he uses in school. One of them was similar to a Go Talk 9+. It was a book with picture cards like those in the device. My teachers son would point to a word to communicate what he wanted. With the Go Talk 9+ the child can have the device talk for him or her. I think that is amazing! Plus, there are Go Talks that can hold more words for when their vocabularies expand! These videos, and this course, have taught me that technology can help students in ways that I probably would never have thought of.

I am glad that we watched the 1st video again. It reminded me about how useful games can be in learning. I also love that the teacher shares that he was able to get his technology through grants and free trials. I am aware of the funding issues that schools face and I am happy to have resources and ideas on how to access technology for my classroom even if it is not readily available to me. I also appreciated the second video. I have personally worked with special needs children who had sever disabilities and I love that we are able to use more technology to assist in teaching methods and concepts. The students seem to respond wonderfully to the new technology! I love how the teacher was able to teach large motor, coordination, balance, etc. from her smartboard... so great and the kids really responded well. I also like that students were able to use their own handheld device to participate in their math lesson from the smartboard. What I also found great was the communication tools; especially the phones! That is a great way to teach communication for early education as well and I will try this in my classroom! When used correctly I see how usefully technology can be in assisting learning.

I will always remember how this classroom has turned my perspective around. I like how the teacher talked about using video games for learning. Something like this is fun and entertaining to kids while still learning. I wasnt aware of the influence technology could be and how well it could be used. This teacher shows it all.
In the second video i liked how the teacher encorporated technology with special needs. I had no idea this oculd be available to even autistic children! I will definetly use all this technology in my future classrooms.

I enjoyed watching the math video. I have watched it in the past and it helped me understand how important technology is in a classroom. I found his use of technology inspiring. I also found it interesting that there are multiple ways to bring technology into a class room, through facebook grants and apple. The students seemed to be having fun playing games but they were learning so much more. I would like to use this kind of technology in my classroom in the future.

I really enjoyed watching both videos for this week. I really liked the math video because it is something that I have watched before to really help me understand how and why technology is important in the classroom. The number one thing that caught my eye in this video was finding out many different ways you can bring technology in a classroom of the students and yourself. I think it is a great idea for students to learn through playing video games. Kids today are wrapped up in technology and I think it would benefit them more if they played a videogame and learned instead of sitting down and reading a book or listening to a teacher talk. I also really enjoyed the second video because it showed how teachers use technology when it comes to special needs children. I think it is great that these videos showed us how to uses technology with different types of people and their disabilities. I would definitely use this type of technology in my classroom.

Kaylin VanderMeer
I liked that we were able to watch that first video again just because I think that after you learn so much about how to use technology in different ways sometimes you forget about what you learned at first so I think that that was a good reminder of some fun useful ways to use technology in the classroom. Also I think that the second video was really awesome too. I loved how much it talked about the fact that technology was not only for the teachers in the classroom but it was for the students and how useful it is for the students to use the technology and how much it helps. I also like in the second video how it says that it leveled the playing field and I think that that is so true everyone can use an iPad and play the games on there. It also is so use full for special education and I think that that is huge because it is sometimes hard to teach students with special needs and even something little like an iPad can help a ton.

Megan Bowman
I think both videos were really interesting. I enjoyed re-watching the first one as it seems like most of us have seen it already. I think it is cool how there are so many ways to use technology in the classroom. It shows that having a fun and interactive lesson or activity is okay and students seem to respond well to that. I think students are getting really comfortable with technology because they use it all the time so using technology in the classroom might just be the key to their education because they are used to it. The second video was also cool because it talked about using technology for special needs students which is important because I haven't given that much thought. I really found the phones to be a cool tool to use because I really haven't given much thought of how special needs students would learn such everyday skills such as answering the phone. I was also surprised that there were so many different things these students could use on the Ipads as well.
As it is like the last week of class I think I am really seeing the importance of using technology in the classroom.

I remember watching the first video at the beginning of the semester and it was nice to rewatch it and remember the strategies that the teacher had used to help include technology into math. I enjoy the fact that the two programs allow immediate feedback on the students performance and that the teacher has seen positive results in his students scores since using the apps.
The second video was interesting to me because it really took what we have been learning about how to incorporate technology into our own classroom and showed us how to make this fun and interactive. I loved the end of the second video beacause I want to be able to see how to help children with communication disabilities be able to communicate with their peers and teachers in a relaxing way. When I was at Head Start I had a child who could not communicate verbally. The app that I saw in this video would have been perfect for him to try to use.

Especially because it showed technology in use with specific subject and in a way that was understandable and relatable. I also appreciated that the teacher understands that technology is not the only answer. He uses technology for a students independent practice while he works more closely with the students that need help. I think that is the best way to use technology!

Mariola Mazur
In the two videos that I watched I was amazed to see how technology really makes a difference in the classroom. In the first video the teacher didn't use technology for the first two years. After that he started to and data shows students improving at a much greater rate than the students who didn't get to use technology to learn with. That was incredible to me because you clearly can see technology making a difference in the classroom. I had really liked the idea of immediate feedback that students get because then the teacher can focus and get one on one time with those that really need it. It's a win win situation in my book! In the second video it was amazing to see what students with disabilities can do with technology. I liked the telephone walkie talkie that the teacher was demonstrating because it teaches students conversation and phone skills. Another device to use was the Go Talk which uses pictures. It was nice to get informed about such technology.

Jazzmin Haygood
I really enjoyed watching the first video. The first thing that I thought when watching it, was much he cared about teaching his students. I have never seen desks and tables that were made into whiteboards or even heard of them but I think that it is absolutely genius. I really like how they brought up that students can continue learning at their own pace. If the students is having difficulties it's easier for the teacher to help the student while the other students who are excelling are getting harder problems based on their skill levels. Rather than having a worksheet where they get bored or the students who are learning faster have to stop at the end and wait for everyone to get to that certain level. I really think that would help students who aren't up to the standard. It makes me happy seeing the children become so happy over getting problems right. It shows that the the games online are working and are keeping them engaged.

Robert Tabor
Technology and teaching mathematics fits together seamlessly, and I recognized that before I watched the first video. When I was in Elementary School, using computer tech in the classroom was pretty new. I noticed that some of the first things we did with it was play a ton of math games. That was one thing my teacher allowed us to do if we finished our work earlier than the rest of the class. We could go and play interactive math games where you could choose your difficulty level. I think they've come a long way since then, being better suited for children at all levels and challenging them more the more they prove themselves to be ready for it. Like the teacher in the first video noted, there are some kids that are going to need more one on one support than others, and these relatively endless math games can take pretty good care of others who may be doing just fine, by still giving them immediate feedback on their work, and motivating them with the reward of moving on to the next challenge. Its not about looking for an easy fix to occupy higher achieving students so that you can reach the lower achieving ones, but its actually effective in helping higher achieving students to grow, while also being able to help the lower achieving to keep up with the curriculum.

Last semester we had the privilege of learning under Professor Renee Buell, a wonderful human being with a huge heart for students with special needs. Leaving her class I feel better equipped to assist my own special needs students. She held nothing back, giving us the opportunity to visit elementary schools and getting a firsthand look at some of the obstacles that students and teachers have to overcome. One of the coolest opportunities we had was to meet with two professionals in the area of assistive technology. They briefed us on all of the tips and tools that they and the students they've served, have had the most success with. From communication aiding devices such as the go talk board that the second video went into detail about, to something as low tech as a fidget pencil, and something as high tech as a CCTV for those students who have vision issues. There are technology options and applications available for a wide range of disabilities and there are new options being imagined and created everyday. Its our responsibility to search high and low for anything and everything that could help kids be more successful and have the best experience possible learning in our classroom.

Joel Birky
This is the second time that I had watched the first video and I enjoyed it both times. I think technology games, especially in math, are a great way for kids to learn. I think it helps with more hands on approach and allows the kids to learn at their own pace. The other benefit of using the games online is that the game itself will tell you if your answer is right or wrong and then allow you to go back and answer correctly if you did not get it right the first time. I am huge into hands on, so any chance I get to allow the kids to learn for themselves, I am planning on doing that. Going along with that are iPads, smart boards, and any other technology that can be used to benefit the students. Technology is only going to get better and more advanced, so its important that we use it more and more now for when it comes to the point that it is all we are using.
