A tessellations is am image consisting of repeated shapes.

2. In order to create a tessellation in photoshop on a mac, first you have to create a square grid and insert new guides to create evenly spaced squares at every inch, two inches, four inches, etc. Then you open the photo you wish to "tessellate" in a separate tab in photoshop. Then crop the image (or a specific smaller part of the image) down to the appropriate size square (1inx1in, 2inx2in, 4inx4in, etc.) and change the resolution to 300 pixels/sq in. Then use the move tool to drag and drop the cropped photo into the tab with the grid and align it in the top left square such that there are no white edges showing in either corner the image touches. After this step, you go to Layer>Duplicate Layer and then. using the move tool, drag it to the next square to the right and flip it horizontally (Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontal) to complete the top row, duplicating the first square in the top left corner for each layer. Next, duplicate the original square, drag it to the space below and flip it vertically (Edit>Transform>Flip Vertical) . Continue to duplicate the layer and flip vertically and horizontally to complete the second row. Complete These steps again for as many rows you have remaining. Once all of the squares are completed, move the gridlines off to the side of the tessellation and make sure there are no white spaces. If there are white spaces, delete the square, duplicate the first layer, move it over to the empty square, and transform as needed. Once there are no white spaces, save it (File>Save As) as a Photoshop file in your desktop so that you can fix it if anything goes wrong. Then merge the layers (Layer>Merge Visible) and save it as a JPEG file in your desktop.

3. I really enjoyed creating these tessellations because the simplicity in creating one is in a sense therapeutic and relaxing. My favorite image is the purple eyes. I think it would look super neat in a grid with 1in squares.

4. The only thing I struggled with was having to fix squares that weren't lined up correctly and gave me white lines when I removed the gridlines. They weren't hard to fix, just kind of a pain to fix.

5. If I had to do this whole project over again, I would save my grids. ALL OF MY GRIDS. I didn't save my first grid and It would've saved some time (not much, but definitely some) while creating grids with more gridlines. I also would have taken more time to edit the final pictures so that they look prettier.
