We’ve enjoyed our story ‘Harry And His Bucket Full Of Dinosaurs’, exploring the different props which included; water, dinosaurs, a bucket and a train.

For Maths we have been counting out Cheerios and threading them on to pipe cleaners to develop our fine motor skills.

In music we created our own musical instruments using lots of different materials.

We’ve also enjoyed a session with the interactive sand pit, Forest School, a visit to the sensory playground and a drive on the bus to look at our community.

We’ve enjoyed our new story ‘Barry the fish with fingers’ exploring different props like; bubbles, sea creatures, crates and emotion cards. We looked at all of the different characters and their emotions on our communication boards.

In science we have been investigating different materials and textures, and describing how they feel.

We have also enjoyed doing lots or oral sensory in the mornings and after lunch. We have looked at lots of different objects including; party blowers, straws and Pom Poms, whistles, balloons and bubbles.

We celebrated the World Cup this week by playing some football on the playground and painting our on England flags on paper plates.

We also did some sensory baking. We made chocolate Rice Krispie cakes for the Father’s Day picnic. We weighed out our chocolate and Rice Krispies and choose our on sprinkles.

We planted ‘trees’ in forest school, where we also learnt about how to look after our environment. The children got to learn about how plants grow and where they come from.

In maths we have been looking at heavy and light objects. The children got to experiment with different objects they chose around the classroom to see which ones were heavier and which were lighter.

We have been keeping cool in this heat by having lots of outdoor and indoor water play. The children worked on their fine motor skills by painting ice cubes. And we had a few water fight outside to cool us down.

We also made some nature bracelets and did some painting in the wooded area using leaves, sticks and flowers.

we made ice lollies during sensory baking, practicing our cutting and pouring skills. We then helped free toys out of the ice boulders, by using different tools we could find around the classroom. The children worked as a team to set the toys free and shared all of their toys.

We have been creating snails in art using different colours and textures. The children really enjoyed choosing their own colours and sticking them on the plates.

In soft play we have been exploring different shapes and building towers out of the blocks.

We have been exploring music and move which all the children have been loving. It brings the music to life and all the children love getting involved with all the different objects. They have also enjoyed the disco tent this week, where the children could play in foam, look at different lights and listen to music.

In our topic we have been looking at how we can take care of the environment. We all had a turn at cleaning the ocean and helping the sea creatures to stay safe. The children had to identify which items belong in the ocean and which don’t.

In Art have painted some sea creatures, exploring different textures and patterns. The children had a go at blowing the paint with a straw to move it around the paper, and they also used Pom Poms dipped in paint to splatter on their paper.

In maths this week we have been looking at capacity and measurements. Exploring the idea of empty, half and full cups. We have been using lots of different ways to demonstrate this, using gloop, oats, pasta and water.

In science we made our own slime/putty using shaving foam, glue and slime activator. The children loved this activity and enjoyed watching the slime come together in front of them. We all had lots of fun playing with it after, seeing how far we could stretch it and squeezing it.

We have had lots of fun this week doing lots of messy play including; messy maths, painting with our hands, mark making and water play.

We have also made some bluey themed cupcakes in sensory baking. The children had so much fun mixing, pouring and decorating their cakes.

We had fun in the light room, taking part in attention autism sessions and Sensology. We played on the sensory playground exploring the equipment and playing with our friends.

We then ended our year with a trip to Knowsley safari park. The children had an amazing time and enjoyed seeing all the different animals. We got to drive through the safari and say a close hello to some animals and ended it with watching the sea lion show, meeting Arthur the sea lion and watching all his amazing tricks.
