This is Amina kawtharani from Lebanon.

I have been flioping learning which paves the way for in-depth class discussion of the video or reading worksheets in class. This is mostly done in groups followed by whole class discussion.

I also assign novel interdisciplinary real-life performance tasks in choice boards right at the onset of a unit. The purpose is to make students aware of the purpose of learning conceptual knowledge and skills. Knowing that they have to present or perform the task keeps students engaged through out the unit. Moreover, they are assigned rubrics to monitor their progress.

The differentiated tasks with related rubrics gives students a sense of responsibility to relate what they learn in class to life. The performance tasks also hold them accountable to show their depth of learning.
