September 6 1901, he was shot by an anarchist, Leon Czologsz, twice in the abdomen; he convinced himself it was his duty to assassinate him as he viewed Mckinley as a symbol of oppression. Mckinley was ultimately recovering but his wounds became infected-they had become gangrenous. He ended up passing away on September 14.

Commonwealth of Australia was created on January 1st 1901- it was processed by 6 separate self-governing British colonies: Queensland, New south Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South & Western Australia. They united and created a system of federalism, they agreed they have come to be separate colonies but they would fall under a federal government that would look out for them in any trouble underlying the whole nation. They came together due to many problems that were faced when they had their own government. They argued a national government would bring many benefits: increase trade, defence force, better immigration control, a better government.

The Qing Dynasty which was the last imperial dynasty faced a lot of discontent due to corruption, foreign influence, and social unrest. The revolution began with the Wuchang Uprising in 1911. This sparked a series of revolts across the country. Leaders of the revolution aimed to establish a republic, the Qing government failed to handle things effectively to the uprisings: they lost military support. In early 1912 the Qing Dynasty abdicated the throne and on January 1 1912, the Republic of china was established as Yat-sen serving as provisional president.

Ferguson, the Supreme Court declared that public racial segregation was in fact legal and did not violate the 14th Amendment. The doctrine of ¨Separate but Equal¨ was established. States were allowed, as long as equal service was provided, to keep segregation facilities for blacks and whites.

Ida B. Wells was an African American journalist and activist born into slavery just before emancipation. She worked as a teacher in the early 1800s, later becoming an editor of a local paper. A constant theme in her writing was racial injustice. March 9, 1892, changed the trajectory of her writing into a movement. Three African American men, friends of Wells, were illegally executed without trial. This opened Wells to what lynching was. She said it was a way to get rid of African Americans who were gaining success. Wells began documenting lynching and acts of violence, which, in 1892, led to an attack on her newspaper office. Fortunately, she escaped and continued her fight in hopes that democracy would be equally applied to all its citizens.

In December of 1898, Marie, along with her partner Pierre, announced the existence of a second element they named ¨radium.¨They found that by separating the different components of pitchblende, uranium ore, a new element was eventually isolated. Through observation, the mineral pitchblende was notably more radioactive than pure uranium, hence the name radium. Marie established a new name to describe this property of matter, ¨radioactive.¨ It was also uncovered that radiation derives from atoms.

Henry Ford made the Model T simple so he could be able to introduce a mass production of the car. He had a system that each worker focused on only one specific job. That made the car more affordable which was Fords goal, he believed everyone should be able to afford a car and have one. Later and till this day a car is the main form of transportation.
