PROGRESSIVISM
Progressivism is a philosophy that is student-centered. This scientific method is followed by students when they question and teachers evaluate them based on their assignments. however, progressives instead facilitate students with what they need, promoting collaboration using group activities and problem solving to help focus on the students, rather than the content or the teacher.
EXAMPLE FROM THE FILM.
The scene that best appears the significance of her demeanor was when she did the "Toast for Alter". She had the understudies make a toast once they gotten the books she bought them, quieting all of the abhor and question they have been told. They each ought to talk around the generalizations and desires others have set them in and how they will be distinctive. On the off chance that Mrs. Gruwell did not have a positive state of mind and make her understudies accept that they seem succeed, at that point they likely would not accept in themselves and not start to cherish school like they do once they see her demeanor.

The philosophies, approaches, and methods are irrelevant to the SA context because most township schools lack study materials, limiting teachers' ability to do their jobs. Schools in poorer provinces and rural areas are more likely to have inadequate infrastructure. This reflects and contributes to the perpetuation of historical inequalities in South Africa, which are rooted in colonialism and apartheid. Students are degraded by having to attend schools with inadequate infrastructure.

CONSTRUCTIVISM
Constructivism is an educational theory that holds that individuals or learners acquire knowledge and understanding through experience and social discourse, rather than through passively perceiving it through a direct process of knowledge transmission (prior knowledge).
EXAMPLE FROM THE FILM.
Mr. Keating assigns the class an assignment that requires them to write a poem from scratch. The poem could be about anything the students want to write about.

Mr. Keating emphasizes the importance of individuality and nonconformity in education in the film. His philosophy encourages students to "seize the day"—to make the most of the present moment before their hope and destiny fade away.

An example from the movie

He encourages them to see the world in new ways, to keep their natural curiosity alive by constantly shifting perspectives. Nonetheless, he encourages them to develop their own distinct voices and to challenge the status quo. He encourages them to "contribute a verse" to life's powerful play—to leave their own unique imprint on the world around them because it is our unique passions that keep us alive.

BEHAVIOURISM
Behaviorists believe in the power of pain and rewards to motivate behavior. This is an approach to teaching where educators believe that humans react due to their intrinsic nature, either internally or externally. This teacher-centered system gives full control to the educator, who manages the classroom environment based on students' behavior. Many people view behaviorism as a form of classroom management to maintain discipline. Teachers use intrinsic and extrinsic rewards whenever students do something that they want to happen. The same concept applies to punishments.
EXAMPLE FROM THE FILM
Flexibility Scholars is approximately a first-year educator, Erin Gruwell, beginning her instructing career at a really at-risk school Woodrow Wilson tall school. Newport Shoreline is isolated by race, battling for the beat. Erin quickly learned that her class isn't willing to memorize and tune in to what she must say. She had to think exterior the box to form her lessons relate to the battles her understudies are going through. She closes up sparing her understudies and making them need to memorize. She indeed gets to be their educator all four a long time they go to Woodrow.
