There is a theme in 'The Tempest' with knowledge, specifically how many may use knowledge in order to gain power over others who are less fortunate. We see this in Act 1 when Ariel gets frustrated with Prospero because he's had him locked up for longer than Prospero promised. Prospero uses his knowledge of the shipwreck and in general to manipulative Ariel into staying under his control longer.

Power

Power is associated with the first scene, specifically when Sebastian and Antonio use their royalty and position in the government as an excuse to blame the Boatswain. They are afraid that the ship might tip or sink, so they call the Boatswain names and blame them instead of understanding the environment around them.

Perspective

Perspective is an important part to establishing a theme within the Tempest. We see this when hearing about Caliban’s backstory. After hearing the Ariel’s backstory, we also see that Caliban is treated horribly by Prospero. He stays underground in a layer, has bad hygiene, and is in a bad state overall. However, after hearing what Caliban did to Miranda, we gather that Prospero most likely was just really upset with him and we’re able to justify it more. This creates an importance in perspective within the first act.

Act 2

Knowledge is shown in Act 2 when Caliban plans to kill Prospero to be freed. He plots with both Trinculo and Sebastian to stab him with a nail so Sebastian and Caliban can both take over the land. However, they planned to "burn but his books. [Because] he has brave utensils" (Shakespeare 3.2.104-105). This shows the emphasis of knowledge being related to power because Prospero contained lots of knowledge that gave him an advantage of power, which Caliban wanted to keep.

Act 3

Perspective is shown in Act 3 when Gonzalo uses it for the greater good. Instead of being distressed and always seeing the negatives like Sebastian, Antonio, and Alonso, he tries his best to uplift others and always sees the better in things. Because of this, Ariel's speech does not apply to Gonzalo, and he doesn't go through the same traumatic experience as when he tells the others they are "three men of sin" (Shakespeare 3.3.70). This shows how having a positive mindset through times of trouble can get you further places than others who don't, even if having a positive mindset isn't always valued in that scenario.
