The white one uses a 28x28 grid but the blue one uses a 32x32 grid. The advantage of the larger grid is that I was able to include more features like eyes and toes, and 16 is a power of 2, so no weird measurements are needed before folding. I became interested in art when I first saw the film "The Little Mermaid" as a young child. I love how Disney animates their films to be both a cartoon and realistic at the same time. In Disney Animation, characters often have large eyes and bold features; I like to mirror that in my art work. I also like to use bright, vibrant colors in my work. On a deeper level, I like to show different cultures within some of my art pieces. The special challenge of theater props is that on a stage, the lights blast the pieces and they have to be recognizable from far away. The bright lights meant that I couldn't use a reflective medium like graphite, so I went with colored pencil instead. My love for fashion stemmed from my early years when all I wanted to do was dress up and imitate everything my sister did, which included her artwork. Although our styles are drastically different currently, my sister is the reason I love art. My pieces are almost completely focused on fashion and clothes. I use pencil and watercolor as my mediums because I like how it gives the clothing a dynamic look. Although my sister inspired me at a young age to pursue art, my love of art is now genuinely my own.

With drawing, my preferred mediums are graphite, ink, and colored pencil. My goal with my drawings is to be unconventional with composition and colors and have a high level of detail to reward the viewer for paying close attention. 
Origami has always been appealing because it is a blend of technical design and artistic expression. In origami design, there may be a lot of geometric problems I have to solve with math or simple trial and error. I also use an origami software called Oripa. I know how long the midsection will be when the scales are folded, but I need to know how long it will be when unfolded, so I actually have to work backwards and calculate an increase. To begin, I broke the pike crease pattern into sections representing a part of the fish's body. The numbers are a ratio showing how much length of the paper each section of the fish takes up. It's obvious that a folded paper is never going to be larger than the sheet, but what matters is that in a repeating unit like a scale, the size decrease can be predicted.
