The Germans declared "Unrestricted Submarine Warfare" which affects the U.S. economically. With the Germans taking over the seas this takes away trades and being able to gain products from other countries. It affected the U.S. socially also due to the sinking of the Lusitania. This telegram sent to Mexico was extremely important involving the U.S. The telegram was sent by Germany inspiring Mexico to help them take on the U.S. in war. This affects the U.S. politically because it is sorta disrespectful and an incredibly shady thing to do by sending that telegram. This was the U.S. last straw with Germany during the war. This war was huge because this was the first time American units saw action in war. With the Americans now coming into this war the Germans would have to now change their plans. With the Americans siding with the British, German soldiers would now have to face two enemies instead of just one. With the Americans now in the war the Germans would need more troops and help. The Battle of Ypres-Lys was a good one for the Allies. The U.S were still relatively fresh so during this war they were able to  send out non-stop troops to help out the Allies. The Second Battle of the Marne was the extreme turning point in the war. The allied forces took the Germans on head to head at Marne where they have finally started a counterattack on the Germans troops. This counterattack is what ended up being the difference in the war. This war is significant to the U.S. socially because this really made the American people get up and seize a push for victory.

This battle was a different one because the U.S. enemies were now Austria-Hungary. The U.S. had helped the Italians in this war even with them having only one Unit fighting. Though they had one unit they played a huge role in this battle. The U.S. economy after the war caused a huge industrial depression. This affects the U.S. economically because with factories being in a depression and having less workers then prices will go up since items arent being manufactured as much. The industrial employment rate dropped 30% from March 1920 to July 1921. The Selective Service Act required MEN ages 18-25 to register for selective service. This was due to political persuasion. The propaganda was saying if you do not sign up you are an enemy to your country because you are supporting the enemies. It was to the point in war where if you denied selective service you would be fined and even put into prison. Wilson created 14 points which the European countries and the U.S. senate did not agree with. The European countries believed that Germany should pay off all the damaged they have caused since they started the war. The senate denied it because they thought that joining the League of Nations would sacrifice National Sovereignty.
