It was developed by Everett, Blasi, and Roberts (2015) and it was used to study the phonological system of a region in relationship with its influence from climate factors. This theory indicates that arid climates tend to increase jittery sounds, as increase heat reduces the humidity of the vocal cords; whereas increased humidity, broadens the tonal system of a language, as it happens in Cantonese and the various dialects of Mandarin. It is just a simple matter of prepositions and verbs’ usage, regardless of this grammatical observation, I understood well your perspective.
