I think English medical classes are a good way to help us improving our skills in English. Then, I really appreciate the setting of this course. I expect to improve my fear of speaking in front of an attendance.

English is an international language and a lot of scientific studies are done in English so it's good to have some English classes to get used to it.
But I'm not sure if I have a good enough level in English to understand and express myself on such advanced subjects

I can understand that we have to make an effort, English being the international scientific language, but honestly I don't think that English is important for future doctors who want to practice in Belgium, in their village for example. In addition, students struggling with this language will have to work a lot to catch up. A course on "how to analyze a guideline" in French would have been perfect for me, those wanting to deepen their English would have done so afterwards.

I'm not sure wheter it's really relevant to make classes in english. First of all the medical vocabulary is the same in French and in English so the comprehension of the article is not a problem for the ones with a low level. In addition, that'll be a course in english and not an english course, so people with difficulties will have even more difficulties.
Finally, I think that a 38 ECTS credit semester already give us enough work, a "new" language would give us more work to do, I find it more important to work on my cardiology than to work on my english.

English is a language that all the scientists use, so it is important to deal with it. Moreover, all the publications are in English on the reference platforms. However it is more work and we already have a difficult semester with extra ECTS…
By the way, the transcript of the videos is really a good idea, especially if we have problems with the wifi !

I take it like a challenge for me. Understanding is not to difficult but speaking is a real problem. I think some of us need this to learn to express ourselves.
More work? No, it is sharing with other in a different language that we use usually.

I think that speaking English is really important for our future profession, however I'm afraid I don't know how to express myself well enough as I would like to do in a language other than French. In addition, I'm afraid that this will add a significant amount of work to us when we already have a lot of classes in the second term of the year.

I find pulmonology and cardiology courses are very important for this semester . they’re already require a lot of work. And for people with difficulties in English, adding an extra workload is not particularly pleasant … I have difficulties with foreign languages, and the fact of having to concentrate on English asks me a lot of work when I could use my time to study more the course.
But I thank you all the same for making this practical work pleasant with dynamic videos, I find it motivating :)

I'm afraid of the time and my level it's not good. Moreover I don't want that courses are in teams. We have been in distanciât for 2 years, it's enough for me.

There are too many videos and they are too long. We don't have time to watch them all and answer to the quizzes when we receive a mail on Saturday morning and have to hand in the assignment on Tuesday. We also have other classes that might be more important.

I just spent one day of my week working on a subject that is worth almost no ECTS. I don't think that English is useless, nevertheless everything has a price, and in this case the only way to do the exercises that you gave us is to put aside other subjects, probably less important like cardiology or even semiology ^^.

I think it is important to learn how to analyse a scientific document in english and to be able to communicate with any patient or colleague however I do not feel this is what we are doing here. After the first workshop, more than anything, I just feel more confused with the notions I learnt in epidemiology and analytic statistics. Moreover I get the feeling that this course will demand a whole lot of work without giving me much in return which doesn't feel that great considering the workload we already have this semester. But I guess we will see how it all turns out.

English in medical classes is interesting for us because it's an international language and everybody should understand this language. But for people who have difficulties with English, the presentation we must do will require more work and time than for other people.

I'm not going to lie, the fact that the course is in English adds a significant difficulty and will require an extra effort for the student with limited English skills. The time to translate, assimilate the course material and learn it may consume a lot of time. However, I found the video modules to be very interesting and dynamic.
