On earth there is an atmosphere so objects fall at different times depending on air resistance. I know that because the crumpled ball and the flat paper have the same weight, but air resistance caught on the flat paper more so it fell slower. When you say down that means towards because the earth is round and according to different people they refrence down as different. Spaceships have to go so fast and fight threw earth's gravity to reach the moon.
