Description:

The iberian lynx is from the feline's family, it has a clear brown spotted fur with white hair in the ears, the face and the belly. It also owns a pair of big crystalline eyes and some white moustache. It is smaller than a lion but bigger than a cat.
Moreover it is one of the fastest animals in the world (as its entire family), it can reach 115 km/h.
Right now, there are less than 1000 iberian lynx in the peninsula.

Habitat and country where they live:

They live in mediterranean forests so you can find them only in Spain and Portugal as they are an endangered specie.

Why are they in danger:

Habitat loss- The human's infrastructures (as roads, dams and railways) invades and creates barriers into the lynx's habitat area.
Road accidents- It is usual for the iberian lynx to die because of a speeding vehicle that didn't see them.
Rabbits decrease- The number of rabbits, principal lynx's prey, is decreasing in the lynx's habitat which makes hard for them to find something to eat.
Illegal hunting- Before the 1970's it was legal to hunt the Iberian lynx and hunters used to see it as a triomph. It is illegal now but some of them still get caught by hunting traps or getting shot at.

What is being done to keep them alive:

-Restore habitat and recover rabbit population.
-Breeding in natural reserves like in Doñana and Andujar.
- Release animals that were raised in captivity in the wild.

Description:

Similarly to the salamander, the axolotl has 4 legs with 5 litlle fingers on each one, a long tail and a smiley mouth. He has gills and fins. He seems like a fish althougt he is an amphibian. They measure between 15 and 33 cm.
It's because of this that a lot of people call him the "walking fish".
The axolotl also has the capacity to regenerate different parts of their body that could be damaged or destroyed.
He is a nocturne animal that is particularly active at dawn.
There are less than 100 of these animals in the wild at the moment.

Habitat and country where they live:

They live in lakes and "axalapascos" (volcanic craters full of water). The only place where you can find them is Mexico, in Xochimilco and Chalco lakes.

Why are they in danger:

-Habitat loss because of Mexico's development.
-Overfishing.
-Introduction of invasive species to their habitat, which kill them or eat them.
-Contamination, the water that constitues their habitat is way too contaminated for living in there.

What is being done to keep them alive:

There is a proyect encouraged by scientists that wants to improve the conditions of the axolotl's habitat or create new shelters for these animals and promote traditional agriculture in order to avoid the use of pesticides that contaminate the water.

1) Paris agreement:

This is an agreement between the developed countries (in relation with the ONU) that serves for:
-Reducing CO2 emissions
-Limiting the global temperature
-Stop using non-renewable ressources
-Using renewable ressources
The countries that are part of this project are "obligated" to fulfill the commitments.

2) The three R's:

-Recycling
-Re-using
-Reduce

3) Transports:

A lot of transports are being transformed into their electric version. Since the vehicles like cars or buses emit a lot of CO2, the vehicle production is now changing and including batteries on their products. Also a bunch of people is starting to use the bikes or their own foots to move.

4) Reforestation and protection of natural reserves:

Despite the fact that we are the ones that have destroyed whole forest and jungles plus animal's habitats, we are now the ones (part of us) trying to solve it. We are planting trees everywhere and determining restricted areas protected by law for different kinf of endangered animals.

2) Deniers in government:

There is still some politicians that deny the existence of climate change. This affects the government's decisions and helps fake rumours about this issue spread vaery faster.

3) Big companies:

The economic interests of the companies (alimentation, energy...) promote things such as overfishing, deforestation for agricole culture, consumption for winning money.

4) Overfishing:

Humans capture around 190 millions of tones of fish in a year. An enormous part of this fishes go to the trash because of food waist. Sea species are starting to dissapear because of this practice that could be reduced.

5) Deforestation:

The causes of this are usually agriculture, cattle raising and wood companies. They cut 15 300 millions of trees every year. Deforestation is the destruction of a lot of animal's habitat and of our way to stay alive.

6) Consumption:

We live in a society that promotes consumption and drives us to buy things we don't need, that causing the production of plastic that will got to the ocean or te cut of a tree.
