deconstructing a scene: Star Wars

This is the opening scene to the first Star Wars movie that was released in 1977. If you skip the intro we will get to the actual scene and the first real scene we see is an endless black space and two planets. This shows us that this universe we seeing is a huge universe full of mysteries and action. About a minute later we see a large spaceship looming over a lot smaller spaceship which could of been shown to show that the villains in this movie are a huge threat and that the heroes are quite a small alliance. about 10-20 seconds later we get a close up on some of the grunts of the hero's side and it shows their fear of what is to come for them through the door and then when the bad guys come in we see the camera angle at Darth Vader as he's walking through the pile of dead bodies which could mean to show his superioity over everyone. Now I must say that even though the film is from 1977 the effects are just amazing and had no need to be changed like it did in the 2000's. the scene also gives me the feel of the universe that they are in which is great from an old film. we get a feel of the Rebel's terror as their waiting for the battle to start and we get a feel of the Empire's victory as they reign supreme over the Rebel's. not to mention the detailing on the inside of the ship makes us feel like we are travelling with the Rebel's in their trip around space and those suits the Stormtroopers wear look so bland and in my opinion that is a good thing because it shows how much of blind and following soldiers they are and the suit that Darth Vader wears stands out from the stormtroopers due to the suit being completely black with dials and buttons on it, not to mention the breathing is really atmospheric when you hear it and show how terrifying Darth Vader is.

deconstructing a scene: Deadpool

For this scene that was from the 2016 comicbook movie known as Deadpool it used camera shots that fans of the comicbook series and action film fans would love. the shots they used were doing close up shots onto Deadpool's bullets as his counts down, the numbers on which he counts are on the bullets as he shoots them. There are a few more close up shots of thugs being shot in the head and blood spurting out, I think they added this just to show that the movie is not meant for kids. There is another shot in the scene which shows his POV and that is when Deadpool gets shot in the arm by a thug on a motorbike as he looks through the hole in his arm. a few more normal shots later it does the bullet count thing again which is really humorous enough. then when Deadpool is shot down a POV of one of the thugs as he looks down at Deadpool. some more normal fast pace shots later Deadpool has a wide shot spread on him as he shoots 3 men in the head with one bullet. it then does a close up on his face as he sniffs up the smoke from the guns making him seem superior. Because this film was made in 2015 and released in 2016 the effects are amazingly great and it helps pull of stunts really well however at some points it's really easy to distinguish the live action moments between the CGI moments. One of the reasons I really enjoyed this scene was the feel of being there and watching the action take place before my very eyes and the editing with the bullets was very smartly done and very amusing to watch.
