Abrasions

An abrasion wound is what happens when skin is scrapped. Apply an antiseptic lotion, cream, or petroleum jelly to the wound. Make sure the site stays dry and clean to avoid any type of infection.

Laceration

A laceration would is torn tissue, jagged, rough edges. Make sure to remove any dirt and/or debris with tweezers that have been cleaned with alcohol. Post care would consist of applying antibiotic ointment, then cover the wound area with a sterile gauze bandage and first-aid tape.

Incision

An incision wound is a wound with smooth edges. The initial care that should be provided would be to use a normal saline solution like salt water or mildly soapy water. Post care is along the same lines as initial care.

Avulsion

Avulsion wound is when tissue is torn from the body. When someone has this type of wound make sure that they remove any debris and rinse with soapy water. Afterwards, keep the wound clean and dry along with applying antibiotic ointment, make sure you're covering the wound with a bandage.

Puncture

A puncture wound is the penetration of tissue that can be easily infected. Make sure the victim is applying firm and continuous pressure to the wound. Post care consists of washing the wound with clean water 2 times a day.

Universal precautions

Make sure some precautions you're taking when caring for a wound would consist of wearing gloves, using goggles, masks, and more.

Infected wound

To recognize an infected wound look for pus or cloudy fluids draining from the wound, pimple or yellow crust has formed on the wound.
