It took a few seconds to adjust to a basic night vision and he heard no movement or acknowledgment from the OOW.  He asked the AB where the OOW was, to which the AB said, “he is at the back of the bridge”. 


The Captain went to the corner and found the duty officer asleep on the sofa.


The Captain called the CO and relieved the OOW.
