Term 1.1

In Term 1.1, we studied poetry. The anthology of poetry we studied, focused on childhood . 
My favorite poem we studied was the first day of school. 
The skills we developed in this unit were retrieval, inference and analysis . We also worked on how to write an analytical essay.

Strengths 

-  I developed my ideas in detail.
- I used relevant evidence to support your ideas.
- I've shown strong focus on the question .

Targets

-  To think carefully about the imagery the poet uses .
- I need to explore the impact of the poet's choices .
- I need to make links on the different devices in the poem. 

Term 1.2

In Term 1.2 we have been studying persuasive speeches . We analyzed some speeches made by famous people . We have also worked on writing our own persuasive speeches . 

Strengths 

- I am able to use ambitious vocabulary accurately and effectively . 
- I am able to use pathos effectively .
- my speech contains key points that are informative and developed with interesting detail.

Targets

- I need to think carefully about my targeted audience when I am writing . 
- I need to use more ethos and logos in my speech. 
- I must remember to use a range of persuasive devices . 

In my English lessons next term I must ensure that I am more collaborative and focus more .

In term 1.2 we have learned algebra and how to simplify algebraic expressions. in this topic I used my analysing skills when simplifying algebraic expressions . I feel way more confident in maths than I did at the start in september.

I want to improve my revision and exam technique and use revision resources more consistently.

 I have completed all home learning to be able to revise for science tests.

French , german and Spanish. At the start of august, I didn't know a single word in Spanish and German. However , now I can speak full sentences in these languages.  I feel very confident in French as I have been speaking it for longer .
