He then develops an obsession towards the origins of life and death, observing the decay of the human body in charnel-houses (“a vault where human skeletal remains are stored”) and vaults. From these observations, he realized the origins of life and how to create life from nonliving matter. With this knowledge, he collected human body parts to create this life. Although he feels remorse that he has not spoken with his family, he still resumes his studies without any connection to them. - Idealism: Frankenstein discovers the secret to creating life and sees the sky as the limit.

God complex— he believed he could make a species of living creatures that would bow down to him.  He was prideful and egoistic regarding his ambitions.  He believes he is God.
*Page 32: “A new species would bless me as its creator and source; many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to me.”

Thirst for knowledge— he soaks in the words of his professors and becomes obsessed with his hard work.  This became extreme as he ignored his own health in the process.
